Blonde On Blonde Re-Issues

Written by John Deaux

Blonde On Blonde (nothing to do with the Bob Dylan album) hailed from South Wales & were pioneers of guitar-led psychedelic rock.

Completely remastered from the original tapes & expanded both albums (Rebirth & Reflections on a Life) have been given a whole new lease of life. Original vinyl copies of Rebirth & Reflections on a Life now demand huge sums among collectors. So for those with a limited budget & still wish to hear these amazing albums, can finally get a chance along with the added bonus of extra tracks.

Both of these recordings sound as good now as they did back in the annals of the early 70’s. The booklets in both CDs have full reproduced artwork as well as incredible liner notes based on new interviews with band members.

To say these albums are filled with classic psychedelia is a bit of a cop-out. What I will say is both albums have some nice guitar work combined with jarring bass & drum patterns that you can’t help but be opened mouthed at. As for the vocals? They’re mesmerizing & take you on a different plane of consciousness.

Once again, Esoteric Records have produced another set of re-issues that can only be described as marvellous.

Score 7/10 for Rebirth & 7/10 for Reflections on a Life
