‘Chaos Theory is almost ten years old! It’s been a rollercoaster and a half and I’ve enjoyed every element of it; even the parts that made me tear my hair out resulted in something great. All of the events that take place under its banner are a celebration of two beliefs:
1: Not one of us can say that they dislike any entire genre; we simply have not discovered the project within it that has made us understand it.
2: To truly understand unfamiliar music and art, we have to see it live, to understand the conversation amongst the musicians, interact with them ourselves, understand how the sound is created and feel the atmosphere in the space.
We cover a lot of scenes and encourage people to take a chance on sounds they aren’t so familiar with. And it works, as they’re often pleasantly surprised.’
Chaos Theory was started as a response to the pay-to-play environment Kunal discovered in London, which he adds, ‘was accepted as the norm for new musicians and something I despised intensely. Over time, it became more of a joy instead of just a cause, easier to run as more people latched onto what it is we do and started coming back to our events more regularly, and slowly but surely, various individuals started taking part in creating other aspects of how we promote artists, from photographers, filmmakers, crew, writers to designers, and we now have a strong team of passionate people who feel committed to bringing the rare and beautiful to the mainstream consciousness.’
Nine and a half years on, the Chaos Theory team are gearing up for their biggest ever event with 10 Years Of Chaos at The Dome and Boston Music Room. Tickets are on sale now with more bands to be announced over the coming months.
Towards Collapse will run the official festival afterparty takeover from 11pm to 3am in Boston Music Room.
