Harem Scarem – Thirteen

Harem Scarem – Thirteen

10th January 2015 0 By Matt Farrington

For fans of polished melodic rock this is an album made for you, after a six year gap the Canadian rockers return with “Thirteen” an album of ten songs of solid brilliance. With a blues based foundation overladen with melodic hooks and good feeling this is a classic rock collection that’s made for arena rock and built to shine. With ballads like “Tell me what you want” which easily equals Def Leppard’s, “When Love and hate collide” it’s easy to see these guys have a talent that’s special and a definitive to fit into the world of hard AOR. How I’ve not heard of anything from these guys before astounds me cause if you are a fan of the eighties early nineties rock and your Thunder, FM, Giant et al then you need to check these guys out – listen to “All I need” and you’ll understand why.

The musicianship as mentioned is polished, tight and shows change in rhythm, tempo and with excellent vocals it’s a solid delivery overall.

It seems “Thirteen” isn’t so unlucky after all

Score: 8/10
