Mike Ross Releases the Debut Single and Premiere’s video from His New Album ‘The Clovis Limit Pt.2

Multi-talented, pigeonhole-defying guitarmeister and multi-instrumentalist, Mike Ross is delighted to release the first single from his excellent new, genre-crossing 10-track solo album ‘The Clovis Limit Pt.2’ The sweet-sounding first single to drop from the album is ‘The Loser’ is out today Friday 24^th July.

“’The Loser’ is a song about never giving up,” Mike explains, “Composed in a single, sit-down session on a day off while touring Europe, the lyric was written to inspire listeners who feels alone or defeated. It’s a call to action: a rallying cry for the lonely and disaffected; a balm for the soul, for those who are reeling from the hurt caused when slamming against a hard, unyielding reality. A sentiment that is particularly apt in these times of great uncertainty and anxiety.”

Listeners may well detect the piquant flavours of Humble Pie and similar ingredients in the sound and feel of ‘The Loser’, yet it’s a fine, original song, which begins the roll-out of fresh material from ‘The Clovis Limit Pt.2’ — an album that’s remarkably strong on multiple fronts: a showcase for Mike’s songwriting and musicianship on multiple instruments.

“This track is unusual in that it’s the only track from new album — ‘The Clovis Limit Pt.2’ — not to feature drums,” Mike observes, “the percussion you hear is me kicking boxes and rubbing sandpaper sheets together, along with shakers and tambourine over the top. In fact, I play all of the instruments on the song including piano, bass & guitar.”

He whistles too! The close-knit sound that this impressive, multi-tracked, approach produces belies its one-man-band origins! And let’s not forget that Mike is the vocalist AND producer as well! A man wearing many hats, with aplomb and a grin.

‘The Loser’ has less of Mike’s trademark Heavy Blues electric guitar fuzz and drive than many of the tracks on ‘The Clovis Limit Pt.2’, but that just gives the limelight to his other facets.
