The Ruts DC – Psychic Attack CD single review

The Ruts DC – Psychic Attack CD single review

23rd May 2016 0 By John Deaux

When I heard that punk legends The Ruts DC were releasing a brand new single since 1983s Stepping Bondage” / “Lobotomy” / “Rich Bitch” I immediatelty started to feel a stirring in my loins.

Psychic Attack opens with a bass riff & drum beat that leads into a full on down stroke guitar that hasn’t been caught on record since early Ramones.

As soon as the track kicks in fully I was slam dancing & remembering why The Ruts are one of my favorite punk bands of all times.

With most singles this only has 3 tracks & only runs for 10 minutes flat. BUT what a 10 minutes it is.

The 2nd track Psychic Disturbance is a remix of Psychic Attack but it still has the power & electricty of the original version.

Third track Vox Teardrop is an instrumental track & slightly more experimental but is still very Ruts.

I can’t wait for this album based on this 3 track single.

THE RUTS ARE BACK & More relevant than ever

Released as a CD & limited edition clear vinyl 7″ single via Westworld Records, it’s a an excellent teaser for what will come next from this beautiful bunch of musicians.

Track List

1. Psychic Attack
2. Psychic Disturbance
3. Vox Teardrop

Score 9/10stamp-e1378235268365

The Ruts album release show is confirmed for 16th September at the Camden Underworld in London. Be there or be somewhere else & miss out on what promises to be on hell of a night.
