4 THE BROTHERHOOD CROWNED WINNERS OF THIS YEAR’S RECORD STORE DAY UNSIGNED COMPETITION WITH BREED MEDIA!

4th December 2024 0 By Jon Deaux

Record Store Day and Breed Media are thrilled to reveal that 4 The Brotherhood has been crowned champions of this year’s #RSDUnsigned competition!

The half-Filipino, half-Jamaican sensation delivers a masterful blend of 2000s pop nostalgia with indie-pop, rock, and alternative R&B influences. Tipped as a “Rising Indie Star” by Wonderland Magazine, 4 The Brotherhood has steadily built momentum, earning recognition as a Next Gen Fund applicant, and collaborating with Filipino-American superstar Ez Mil (Interscope & Shady Records). His music has featured on ITV’s Love Island, and their electrifying live performances include last year’s All Points East Festival.

“I always joked that if my music was ever put on vinyl, I knew I’d made it,” he shares. “Now here I am as the first Filipino-Jamaican RSDU competition winner…what an achievement, truly a dream come true!”

4 The Brotherhood is undoubtedly a name to watch.

His unique sound blends indie influences with a fresh, genre-defying edge – and now, 4 The Brotherhood will have their music immortalized on 500 vinyl records! Upon being announced as winner, Singer Songwriter, Nina Nesbitt who featured on this year’s judging panel, said: “Such great energy! Fresh and different from anything else now but also love the nostalgic feel to it.”

#RSDUnsigned is the nationwide contest that gives talented unsigned and DIY artists the opportunity to win their music pressed onto vinyl, courtesy of Breed Media. Previous winners have included Amy Fitz Doyley, Currls, Sister Cookie, and Heavy Rapids – all of whom have gone on to enjoy success on the festival circuit and plays on national radio.

On top of that, this year the winning artist has been invited to experience an exclusive mastering session at one of the world’s leading recording studios, courtesy of Bowers & Wilkins, to help kickstart their first physical release. Alongside this, 4 The Brotherhood has won an eight-week talent development programme for artists with Charmfactory. And lastly, 4 The Brotherhood has secured a coveted spot on the lineup for Truck Festival 2025.

  • 4 The Brotherhood were crowned as 2024’s winners by a team of music industry experts, including:
  • Nina Nesbitt – Recording Artist
  • Karen Emanuel – Founder & CEO, Key Production Group
  • Julie Weir – Music for Nations Director, Sony Music
  • Gary Smith – Founder of Truck Festival and Truck Records

Gary Smith said: “Really like the energy and live footage – could see them going down very well at Truck Festival.”

Karen Emanuel: “I really loved this entry. Loads of energy and enthusiasm that really stood out in a very competitive year of entries. A deserving winner!”

Julie Weir: ‘’Interesting melting pot of influences – Slaves meets Dave Hynes/Bloc Party – ace vibe and energy – and momentum already there…”

Stay tuned to Record Store Day and Breed Media over the coming months for more information on their special vinyl release.
