SikTh announce departure of Justin Hill
3rd June 2016British progressive metal forefathers SikTh have announced that vocalist Justin Hill will be leaving the band after their performance at Camden Rocks Festival this weekend. Justin comments:
“It’s been a privilege to be part of Sikth, I never expected the great response we had to the reunion in 2014 and for things to kick off the way they have. It’s been great to work with the guys again, tour with some amazing bands and play to fans old and new.
Now SikTh are ready to step things up a notch and fully focus on the next chapter I’m afraid its time for me to bow out. My production and mixing career are still my priority so unfortunately I’m unable to give the band the time and commitment that’s needed going forward. I’m chuffed to bits that SikTh have the opportunity to move onto bigger things and I don’t want to hold them back from doing all the shows offered due to my schedule.
Goes without saying that I fully support the rest of the guys and want nothing but great things for them in the future. I’ve had an awesome time with the band so thanks to everyone involved for all the good times.’
Justin will be replaced by Joe Rosser who alongside SikTh guitarist Pin also plays in Aliases. Guitarist Dan Weller adds:
“We’ve reached the point with SikTh where we are being offered some amazing opportunities.. The band has a new lease of life. We have new management and a new full length album coming in the new year. Being in a band takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice and for SikTh to be given the attention it deserves takes a certain amount of commitment.
Unfortunately, with the above in mind, Justin has decided to step aside from SikTh going forward – a decision we totally respect and understand.
Being the stand up guy that he is Justin has helped in our active search for his replacement -and together we have found a gem – someone with incredible range and skills who will see in a new era of SikTh – one in which we hope to take the band higher than ever before. We wish Justin all the best with his future and will continue to be close friends.”
Following their reformation at Download Festival in 2014, SikTh released their first new material since 2006 in the form of mini-album ‘Opacities’ last year linking up with legendary UK metal label Peaceville. The band went on to open for Slipknot on their UK arena tour at the start of this year and will be touring the U.S for the first time throughout August with Periphery.
The band headline the Underworld this Saturday at Camden Rocks festival, onstage at 9.15pm.
