Armed For Apocalypse – Bannermans – Edinburgh, Scotland – 04th July 2023
5th July 2023 0 By Jon DeauxBack to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh where I find the city wetter than a group of menopausal women watching Chippendales. Luckily it’s nice and dry in Bannermans this evening and very toasty with the audience at incredibly close quarters.
Armed For Apocalypse (who went down an absolute storm at this year’s Tech-Fest) hit the stage at 9:05 pm and proceed to batter the living daylights out of the aforementioned crowd. There was no mucking about with stage chat, this was a full-on 45-minute assault.
Their album Ritual Violence doesn’t do them justice. Live, their extreme brutality of a full frontal noise attack coupled with the incredible pounding rhythms of drummer Nick Haris and insane vocals from Nate Burman, truly doesn’t get much better than Armed For The Apocalypse.
It’s been a while since I’ve had my nether regions vibrated by sub-bass (in fact it’s been a long time since my nether regions felt anything. But that’s a completely different story for a very different time.) and my ears attacked. In fact my ears are still ringing as I write this review (it’s going to be a fun day answering the phone).
This band was up for tearing Scotland a new one and they certainly did that. I bloody loved it.
If you haven’t checked out Armed For The Apocalypse yet, get out from under your rock and get some Ritual Violence in your life.
It would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention the front-of-house engineer James Macdonald who did an outstanding job with the sound. For all things Armed For Apocalypse, click HERE, and to purchase the album, click HERE
