When it comes to song titles that are a mouthful and overly edgy, Nile’s “Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes” surely take the gold medal for this.

So, who are Nile?

Nile are an American death metal band hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, and has been going strong metal scene since their formation in 1993 founded by Karl Sanders. The current lineup includes Sanders on guitars and vocals, George Kollias on drums, Brian Kingsland on guitars and vocals, and Brad Parris on bass and vocals.

Back to the topic of this song though – I was shown this a few days ago and thought “I need to write something on this”… Is it a good song? I mean, Yes? I enjoyed it. Does it have influential and heartfelt lyrics – definitely not. Nile’s lyrical themes are deeply rooted in ancient Egyptian mythology and history, as well as the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Does this song align with that? I’m not quiet sure..

At first I didn’t actually believe the track was called “Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes” but upon searching for the song – it actually exists! The track is from the album “The Underworld Awaits Us All “(Napalm Records) which was released on August 23rd, 2024.

Now I know this is only a single I’m commenting about from the album but I’ll do a quick overview of the album just for good measure. The album is a masterpiece of technical death metal and showcases the bands intricate and complex style with a dash of brutality. Overall the album is great and would highly recommend taking some time to check it out, just this song is the one thing that I can’t seem to get my head around. My main question and curiosity is “WHY?” and “HOW?”. Am I late to the party with both this review of the album and mention of the single.. I am but I feel it’s something that needs to be brought up after all, I’d highly suggest going away and looking at the full lyrics for this song and come to your own conclusion of if this was a great creative directive or something that happened in a fucked up psychedelic dream that was manifested into song!
