BRIGHT & BLACK ft. Eicca Toppinen, Kristjan Järvi and Nordic Pulse Orchestra announce European Tour for May 2025

21st October 2024 0 By Jon Deaux

A symphony orchestra. Composers from the world of metal. A wild conductor. A truly unique soloist. Attitude and talent. This is: BRIGHT & BLACK.

BRIGHT & BLACK will return to the stage in May 2025, bringing their groundbreaking orchestral performance to some of Europe’s most stunning venues and concert houses.

BRIGHT & BLACK have been pushing the boundaries of metal and classical music with their debut, The Album, and a hugely successful first tour in 2024, which saw sold-out shows in Tallinn, Stockholm, Berlin, and Hong Kong. With this next year’s shows, BRIGHT & BLACK will give audiences in twelve countries the chance to witness their unique performance.

Both the album and live shows received rave reviews, with critics hailing “the exciting musical territory to be explored through such creative partnerships, that dissolve the perceived boundaries between different types of music” (Louder Than War), with Metal Hammer (UK) exclaiming “Bright & Black’s orchestral debut is the first serious contender for the best metal album of 2024.”

Featuring original compositions by legendary Nordic metal artists (from Apocalyptica, Meshuggah, Opeth, Watain, and Entombed AD), the pieces are brought to life by Nordic Pulse Orchestra, with Eicca Toppinen (Apocalyptica) as soloist and Kristjan Järvi conducting.

Eicca Toppinen comments: ”With Bright & Black we were able to create something that was totally new and exciting. It was such a unique experience and I can’t wait to bring it live again and share it with new people!”

”Bright and Black touches the nerve of our common soul. Bright and Black unify with infinity! Bright and Black is a multi-dimensional force hidden within us.” adds Kristjan Järvi.

Jacob Hellner concludes: “Bright & Black has so far been an extraordinary adventure beyond my wildest imagination. I’m very happy that we’re able to bring it back on the road again!”

ABOUT BRIGHT & BLACK:
Metal music and orchestral music, two worlds existing in parallel, finally clash and a sound not yet heard is born. In an unprecedented move, the world of metal fuses with the world of the orchestra by having writers all rooted in the metal scene compose directly for the orchestra giving them a completely new set of colors to create a new set of sounds. With a bang.

At the core of Bright & Black is the music. Contributors are Eicca Toppinen (Apocalyptica), Fredrik Åkesson (Opeth), Erik Danielsson (Watain), Nico Elgstrand (Entombed AD), Tomas Haake and Dick Lövgren (Meshuggah), Jacob Hellner and Kristjan Järvi.

The Album is now available in full on all major streaming platforms and physically available for order here: https://linktr.ee/bright_black.

The full-scale Dolby Atmos album production of the project was recorded with an orchestra of 65 players in the fall of 2022 at the Estonian National Radio studio in Tallinn. Produced by Jacob Hellner. Performed by Baltic Sea Philharmonic. Conducted by Kristjan Järvi. Orchestrations by Jonny Abraham. Additional recordings took place at Urban Sound, Oslo, and the postproduction and mix took place at Big Island Sound in Stockholm.
