BEARTOOTH, POLARIS AND LANDMVRKS – 25TH OCTOBER 2024: VICTORIA WAREHOUSE MANCHESTER

Today I went off to the Manchester Victoria warehouse to catch Beartooth, Polaris, and Landmvrks on their second Manchester date on their long-anticipated UK / EU tour. Victoria Warehouse will always be the bane of my existence being in the middle of butt fuck nowhere and having to use all brain cells to navigate the Manchester metro link system but spoiler alert I did it. I got there and with enough time to spare to then navigate their baffling entry system for press/photography. It’s like Fort Knox only not as cool, in fact nowhere near as cool.

Taking to the stage first and opening with a strong presence was Landmvrks. Landmvrks are a metalcore band hailing from Marseille, formed in 2014 and still going strong. I’ve never actually seen Landmvrks live before but they have been on my “to watch” list for a long time and I can honestly say I’m happy that this has been achieved, I adored their set. The energy was there, the intricate riffs were there, and it was honestly the full package. Would I see them again? Absolutely, please… come back to the UK soon. Notable songs from their set were “Suffocate” and “Say No Word” Unfortunately Manchester did not get the collab of Zelli of Paleface Swiss like their Alexandra Palace performance but to see this live and the energy reciprocated from the crowd was great.

Following Landmvrks phenomenal performance was Polaris, the Australian metalcore band from Sydney. I did feel that Landmvrks performance felt slightly more engaging from a crowd perspective but this is in no means any shade to Polaris – they nailed it. Known for their high-energy performances they definitely brought the energy frontman Jamie Hails was up and down the stage like the Duracell bunny along with the rest of the band following suit. The overall performance was both powerful and polished. They definitely aren’t a band to be overlooked having already achieved great things I see a real big future for Polaris.

Headliners Beartooth set was exciting and engaging to say the least – party canons, fire … lots of fire, very very warm fire (I mean, I know fire is warm it’s god damn fire – but you get me??). Caleb Shomo‘s stage presence was dominating and memorizing from start to finish with no signs of stopping throughout the performance. Frontman Caleb Shomo has previously expressed his desire for a fiery stage show, saying, “I want to play a show with fire.” And true to his word, Beartooth’s pyro-enhanced performance was spectacular. The set list consisted of primarily hits from their recent album “The Surface” with some golden oldies thrown in for good measure alongside an acoustic cover of “Mr. Brightside” by the Killers. The highlight (s) of the night was hearing the crowds sing along to two tracks in particular “In Between”  and “Sunshine!” which were both played after the encore. Hearing the crowds sing along to these was hair-raising and made me super happy to be living in that moment right there and then. Just a FYI also I stole a set list, sorry not sorry.

Overall the gig was great, great atmosphere, great crowds, a great headliner, and great supports – I had a fantastic time and I’m still on a little high even when I’m writing this now.
