ANY GIVEN REASON – OMEGA EP REVIEW
31st December 2024 0 By Laura JaneBack on the 1st of December 2023, I got to have a little chat with the guys from Any Given Reason (If you would like to see our fun discussion you can read that >> HERE << ) and I’m happy to bring to you today a cheeky little review on their upcoming EP Omega due for release Wednesday 1st January 2025. Since back in 2023 there have been a few roster changes to the lineup but it seems the band has gone from strength to strength and produced what I’d like to preemptively declare an absolute banger of an EP.
Currently, a six-piece metalcore band hailing from Shropshire – Omega is the 2nd EP release from Any Given Reason following on from their June 2024 release “Alpha” (I see what you’re going for here… Alpha … Omega…) and is a four-track release due to release on New Years Day. Let’s get into it..
The EP opens strong with “Break These Chains” inclusive of captivating guitar riffs, cymbal tinkering and aggressive vocals, and kicking in hard at 17 seconds the track definitely sets a high bar for the rest to follow. Following on with a straight-in punch ya nan track (need to stop comparing aggression to punching elders in my reviews it’s becoming a concerning theme right now) “Pareidolia”, Track three “Kerosene Dream” slows the EP down a bit giving a bit more of a melodic feel and a bit of a breather (only slightly) from the rest of the pace of the album. The EP ends on a victoriously strong note with the track “False Prophets” – I would like to compliment in this track in particular the Fast, precision, and complexity of some of the work done within this track.
I would also like to applaud the dual vocalist combo of being able to add variety between melodic clean vocals and harsh screams or growls to a really nice depth and contrast to the music although this does not just apply to this song but the EP in its entirety.Throughout the EP there are a lot of clear elements that shine through from inspirations such as Trivium, Five Finger Death Punch, Lamb Of God, Machine Head, etc and this is not a criticism as the guys take those elements and own them for themselves.
Overall, I honestly think this is some of the best work I’ve personally heard from Any Given Reason, and think that this is an absolute beaut of a release to come. Thanks to the guys for sending this in before release for us to listen too, it’s EP’s like this that make it so fun working in the music industry and getting to listen to what people are doing! Absolute well deserved a 10/10 rating for this and I hope the people like it just as much as we did.
Score 10/10
