Behemoth – Shit Ov God – Album Review

Behemoth – Shit Ov God – Album Review

9th May 2025 0 By Jon Deaux

I’ve ridden through dust storms that peeled the skin clean off a man’s bones, but I’ve never heard anything like what Behemoth cooked up on Shit Ov God. This ain’t just music — it’s a stampede of hellfire hoofbeats coming straight out of Gdańsk, wearing corpse paint and spitting scripture laced with gunpowder and heresy.

Right from the opener, it hits like a preacher’s fist at a queer rodeo. Blast beats hotter than a spit-shined Colt on the Fourth of July, guitars shrieking like a banshee in heat, and vocals? Nergal growls like he’s trying to exorcise the devil out of you, and maybe shove a few more in while he’s at it. And honestly? I didn’t mind.

Now don’t go thinking this is some straight-shot, rootin’-tootin’ satanic tantrum. There’s elegance in this depravity. Like a well-rolled cigarette before a duel. The riffs bend and whip like a leather strap around a willing wrist. There’s rhythm in the punishment, a dance in the flames, and you best believe I two-stepped right into the fire.

Track four (Lvciferaeon)— I can’t even pronounce the damn thing —it felt like taking the Eucharist from the barrel of a shotgun. Somewhere in the middle, I lit a Marlboro Red with the sheer heat of the snare drum. The lyrics? Blasphemous poetry, dripping with sacrilege and sweat. Half of them I didn’t understand, but I reckon God did — and He probably flinched.

By the time the closer rolled around, I was shirtless on the porch, boots off, staring into the horizon like I’d just survived something biblical and filthy. This isn’t music for polite society. It’s for the outlaws, the outcasts, the ones who kiss with teeth and ride alone ‘cause they like the view better.

If hell had a saloon, Shit Ov God would be playing on the jukebox while Behemoth drinks moonshine off a crucifix and winks at me slow.
