Bleeding Through – NINE – CD Review

Bleeding Through – NINE – CD Review

13th February 2025 0 By Damian Rounding

It’s not often I get the chance to review new material from a band that shaped my youth. One of those bands—an integral part of my personal soundtrack—was Bleeding Through. When I first heard This Is Love, This Is Murderous, I knew it would remain in my rotation for decades. Twenty years later, I was right.

That brings me to their latest release, NINE. With a mix of excitement and nostalgia, I couldn’t wait to dive in. From the moment the first guitar riff hit, I was transported straight back to 2004—but not in a way that felt repetitive. Instead, NINE bridges the past and present, delivering a fresh yet unmistakably Bleeding Through sound. Typically, by the ninth release, there’s a risk of redundancy, a rehash of familiar ideas. That’s not the case here. The sheer aggression on this album is staggering. Blistering drum work, razor-sharp riffs, and soaring, melodic choruses all combine to create what I believe is Bleeding Through’s finest work to date.

Adding to the album’s intensity, the band brought in some heavy-hitting friends. Guest appearances from members of God Forbid, Comeback Kid, and Shadows Fall introduce exciting variations throughout the record. One standout for me is War Time, featuring Shadows Fall—an absolute powerhouse of a track.

The album is expertly structured, drawing you in with a relentless first half before briefly slowing the pace with Last Breath. But don’t get too comfortable—Bleeding Through cranks the intensity right back up, delivering searing breakdowns, electrifying solos, and relentless drumming that demand your full attention.

I could talk about this record all day, but I’ll keep it simple—NINE is a triumph. Now, all that’s left is to experience it live. I can’t wait to hear both the classics and the new material in person.
