Cabal – Everything Rots – Album Review
17th March 2025 0 By Laura JaneCabal, a deathcore sextet hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark has been taking the metal world by storm. ‘Everything Rots‘ is Cabal’s fourth studio album and is due for release on the 21st March 2025 under Nuclear Blast Records. With some well-known collaborations on the album from the likes of Joel Holmqvist (Aviana), Alan Grnja (Distant), and Aaron Matts (Ten 56) the album includes multiple influences from black metal, hardcore, deathcore and a dash of technical brutality thrown in for extra good measure. ‘Everything Rots’ is a massive nod to the evolution in their sound and capability to adapt and experiment with their own sound while staying true to their deathcore roots.
The album kicks off with the 1 minute 28 intro song ‘Become Nothing‘. I’ll be honest this album leaves the rest of the album open for interpretation leaving much of an impact with the opening track. Following on is ‘Redemption Denied‘, the official video for Redemption Denied was released around 2 weeks ago officially and can be described as a hard-hitting track that displays the impressive vocal capabilities of Andreas Bjulver.
Further highlighted tracks on this album for me would be ‘Forever Marked‘, ‘Beneath Blackend Skies‘ (ft. Alan Grnja), ‘Snake Tongues‘ and the title-track ‘Everything Rots‘. The album showcases the band’s signature heaviness and brutality in their sound, but is that enough to set this album out from the crowd?Overall, I found this album impressive however feel it felt slightly short with something that made me want to screech “go on… that’s sick” or something along that caliber. I enjoyed the album and would certainly recommend it but compared to some of the other releases that have come out of a similar genre recently it unfortunately falls short of standing out in the crowd. A great release but not phenomenal. I’d rate this album a solid 8.5/10 and would give it the AATR seal of approval.
Score 8.5/10
