Catch Your Breath, Until I Wake and Of Virtue – Rebellion, Manchester; 10th April 2025

16th April 2025 0 By Laura Jane

On the 10th of April 2025, I ventured back to Rebellion in Manchester to attend the completely sold-out Catch Your Breath as part of their UK & Europe ‘Savages‘ tour. Let me tell you this, I entered the venue at 19:10 and by 19:20 the venue was absolutely packed with limited space to move.

I’ll be honest, I never realised how much of a fan base Catch Your Breath actually had here in the UK, but it was spectacular to see Rebellion at full capacity with people eagerly waiting for the first band to take to the stage.

Up first for the evening were Of Virtue. I had a major admiration for this band; everything that they said seemed to come directly from the heart, discussing matters about personal struggles and personal experiences throughout their set. It was truly amicable. This continued to seep through their music, pouring their heart and soul into every song. One song I would like to give a notable mention to would be “Sober.“, During this performance, you could honestly feel the passion that this band had towards their music – it was outstanding to stand there and witness the energy in the room at this point. I’d never really heard of this band beforehand, but it was a band that I walked away from the show thinking, “Man, I need to know more of these guys… I need to find out more!” and would highly recommend anyone who missed this tour to do so also.

Following on from the electrifying set from Of Virtue was Until I Wake. I adored these guys’ energy on stage, and it honestly was a treat for the eyes to watch. There’s just something about when a band performs and includes the whole package of jumps, kicks, and a good old throw your guitar around for extra measure that just gets me going and hyped with the music, and these guys were a testament to that feeling. The engagement between the band and the crowd kept them heated up and set for the headlining act, and also by this point in the evening, it felt like you could see visible sweat dripping from the walls of Rebellion. It was a warm day as it was already outside, but inside the venue it was HOT!!

Catch Your Breath took to the stage as the headlining act and final band to play for the evening, starting with a high-energy performance from the get-go. Kicking the set off with ‘Ghost Inside The Shell‘ it was great to see the amount of engagement with the crowd the band had in between each song. My highlight of the set, if not the evening as a whole, was getting to hear ‘21 Gun Salute‘ in person; my lord Josh Mowery‘s vocals are absolutely stunning. I was standing in awe, just immersed in the melodic tones. I give further applause to Josh on this night after announcing on stage that he was unfortunately feeling unwell with a throat infection but still choosing to perform, to be able to hit those notes and to sound as smooth as he did on stage goes showcase his vocal abilities. Other notable songs featured that were played on this evening’s show were ‘Mirror‘, ‘Good In Goodbye‘ and the viral sensation ‘Dial Tone‘, which took social media by storm at the end of 2023. With the encore of “K.Y.S.W“, I felt this was the perfect song to end the night on and left the crowd roaring with a cheer of appraise with hands clapping in unison.

Overall, the night was a huge success for all of those who performed and went down a huge hit with the crowd. With every part of the venue playing host to some eager fan and there being no room to swing a cat, it was clear the fan base for all of the acts tonight is thriving, and they are clearly doing something right. It was an honour to have been part of the show; however, the only negative is that even though a sold-out bustling crowd is a sign of success, unfortunately for us oldies, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, and did feel for this show it was, but it was a great time – I’m saying this as sipping my boba tea with fluffy Winnie the Pooh slippers on (Truly metal… I know…). I will say as a final note, if you have not yet heard any of these bands, they are definitely worth exploring,g as you may find you enjoy delving into their music and possibly even find new music to listen to. I would like to congratulate the promoters of this event for hosting this, as it was well and truly an unforgettable night for those who attended.
