CODE ORANGE share new song/video ‘Swallowing The Rabbit Whole’
7th February 2020 0 By Jon DeauxGrammy-nominated band CODE ORANGE have shared “Swallowing The Rabbit Whole,” the second new track to be released off their forthcoming LP UNDERNEATH, due out March 13th via Roadrunner Records [Album Art / Tracklist Below]. “Swallowing The Rabbit Whole” is available today on all streaming platforms and joined by a Max Moore directed music video. The official clip builds upon the final scenes of the video for the album’s title track, and sees drummer/vocalist Jami Morgan emerging in a new role. A brutal discourse on self-reflection is delivered as CODE ORANGE prove once again, they cannot be confined to any singular box.
Morgan detailed the track explaining, “’Swallowing The Rabbit Whole’ is the passageway into the deep descent that is the next era of CODE ORANGE… the next piece to the puzzle of UNDERNEATH. Duality is key, not only thematically on this album, but in the continued evolution of our sound and the larger heavy music world in general. You’ve got it all figured out until you’re drowning in it.”
Last month CODE ORANGE broke the news of their forthcoming LP UNDERNEATH and offered a glimpse into their reconfigured and urgent compositions with the LP’s title track. “’Underneath’ hulks out from oil-slick-black electronics and menacing synths, peeling under the skin to uncage CODE ORANGE’s next evolution,” declared NPR with Stereogum adding, “It pushes the band’s sound into something even bigger.” Rolling Stone praised CODE ORANGE’s, “cutting melodies and the group’s balance of industrial rattle and shock-treatment guitar riffs,” while Revolver attested, “the song takes CODE ORANGE’s ever-evolving mix of hardcore, metal, industrial music and alt-rock next level.”
UNDERNEATH is available for pre-order with bundles and four limited edition vinyl colourways, each featuring a gatefold jacket with a lenticular cover, also available. Produced by Morgan and Nick Raskulinecz with co-producer Will Yip, UNDERNEATH features additional programming from Chris Vrenna, and was mixed by Yip and CODE ORANGE’s own Eric ‘Shade’ Balderose.
Comprised of Jami Morgan (Drums/Vocals), Eric ‘Shade’ Balderose (Electronics/Guitar/Vocals), Reba Meyers (Guitar/Vocals), Dominic Landolina (Guitar) and Joe Goldman (Bass), CODE ORANGE will make their live return on March 14th with a hometown record release show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before heading out on The UNDERNEATHTHESKIN_TOUR across the USA with special guests Show Me The Body, Jesus Piece, Year Of The Knife, and Machine Girl. That headline tour is set to get underway March 30th and is routed through CODE ORANGE’s April 10th + 17th performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Immediately following the spring tour, CODE ORANGE will head out on Slipknot’s KNOTFEST ROADSHOW 2020 North American tour, which begins May 30th in New York. The band return to the UK in May to perform at the Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds and Hatfield. For tickets and more info on CODE ORANGE’s upcoming tour dates, visit www.CodeOrangeTOTH.com.
In 2017, CODE ORANGE flipped the heavy music world on its head with their breakthrough album FOREVER, a collection that masterfully mixed hardcore aggression with urgent industrial textures, earning the band a breakthrough Grammy nomination and top placement on several “Best of 2017” lists including: Rolling Stone’s “20 Best Metal Albums of 2017,” Revolver’s “20 Best Albums of 2017,” and The Independent’s “Top 20 Rock & Metal Albums of 2017.”
This past summer, CODE ORANGE made headlines in the professional wrestling world with the release of “Let Me In,” their official entrance theme for WWE Superstar ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. CODE ORANGE previously featured at WWE’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III performing a rendition of wrestler Aleister Black’s entrance theme alongside Incendiary’s Brendan Garrone. “Let Me In” followed CODE ORANGE’s 2018 release of THE HURT WILL GO ON, a digital EP featuring “3 Knives” and “The Hunt” Feat. Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), as well as “The Hurt Will Go On” (Shade Remix), an official remix of CODE ORANGE’s “Hurt Goes On” helmed by the band’s guitarist and vocalist Shade. More recently the CODE ORANGE has collaborated with a wide array of artists, co-producing Injury Reserve’s “HPNGC” Feat. JPEGMAFIA, as well as serving up a pair of remixes for alt-J’s “Hit Me Like That Snare” and “Adeline.”
