Condemnation – Perpetual Paradox EP Review
18th November 2024 0 By Laura JanePerpetual Paradox is a tech metalcore band hailing from London in 2020. Perpetual Paradox released their first EP back in 2022 “Endless Cycle” and a second EP “Monophobia” at the end of 2022 with two tracks being featured on BBC Radio 1’s introducing rock in early 2023. The current member lineup consists of ANDRÉ BARROS (Bass), OLIVER MILES (Guitar), JORGE NUNES (Guitar), WILL ARMSTRONG (Drums) and ADRIAN GRAVEN (Vocals).
Today, I’ll be reviewing their recent release “Condemnation” (Released April 1, 2024). What can I say… I’ll be straight up honest – It’s a solid EP and even though ironically it was released on the 1st of April it was no April Fools joke (Great joke right? Thank you. I’m here all week…). The EP consists of 5 tracks and a run time of 21 minutes 7 seconds so if you’d like to pick up a fairly short run time to listen to some great music, I 100% recommend checking this EP out.
“Condemnation” takes elements from both metalcore and deathcore and fuses them together seamlessly to create a masterpiece, call me bias being a “simp” to anything that is remotely deathcore related but honestly I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this album in its entirety and once again, some tracks have been added to my own personal Spotify list (Maybe I should actually start a collective Spotify for all albums I review and the tracks I find to be bangers… Watch this space! Maybe, possibly, who knows).Once again, as in most of my recent reviews, I’d like to give some praise to the production quality of this album, there was no cringe here and I can not say a negative word about the quality of this.
Highlighted tracks for me on this EP are “Speaking in Tongues”, “Harbour” and “Altar of the lie”. The EP starts of strong and ends strong remaining solid throughout. Within the tracks, you can perceive a high influence from the likes of Whitechapel, Fit for an Autopsy, Carnifex with an underlying tone of metalcore influence. With a collection of mixed vocals ranging from clean to borderline guttural, credit is needed where credit is due. Loved it. Musically the EP consists of heavy riffs that are both catchy and technical and showcase the talent these guys have.
Overall, I’d score this album a high-end rating of 10/10. Complexity is there, musically it’s sound and it got me to listen to it multiple times which is always a bonus. For anyone who is looking for a new band to add to their ever-growing play lists, I’d highly recommend adding some Perpetual Paradox to your playlist! You will not be let down.
Score 10/10
