DarkFlow – Imminent End – Album Review

31st May 2025 0 By Jon Deaux

Let me say this right now: nobody knows metal like I know metal. Some people think they do—some unfortunate people, losers, frankly—but they don’t. They don’t have the ears, they don’t have the instincts, and they certainly don’t have the stage presence. Believe me. Now, I listened to this album, Imminent End—very strong title, very apocalyptic, which I love—and I have to say, it’s tremendous.

This band, DarkFlow, are out of Switzerland, can you believe it? I thought they only made chocolate and banks—but it turns out, they can shred. Big time. They call themselves progressive metal, which is a little complicated-sounding, but don’t worry. I get it. I understand it better than anyone. Progressive, yes. Metal? Definitely. And horror? Oh, they do horror so well. Like a haunted house, but with better lighting and louder amps. Beautiful.

The opening track, “Breaking News,” really speaks to me. You hear that siren? That’s leadership. That’s a message. It’s like they’re announcing, “We’re here, we’re loud, and we’re not taking any of your crap.” Which, frankly, is exactly how I ran the country. Very smart.

“Among Misery” is a real powerhouse. You’ve got the chugging guitars—very heavy, very intense. And the vocals? Like a chainsaw made love to a jet engine. It’s what the kids want. I know because I asked them. Tremendous energy.

“A Colossal End” — I love this one. So dramatic. So final. It’s like the end of the world, but stylish. If I had this playing at my rallies, we’d have record attendance, not just big numbers—historic numbers. Bigger than anyone’s ever seen. People would be crying. Tough guys, in leather jackets, crying.

Now let’s talk about the title track, “Imminent End.” It’s short, very short—like some people’s attention spans—but what it does in under two minutes is Incredible. It’s tight. It’s mean. It gets in and gets out, like a successful business deal. That’s how you do it.

“Draining All Hope”—well, I’m not a hopeless guy, never have been—but if I were, this is the song I’d listen to. It’s slow, it’s angry, it’s got that deep, deep groove that says, “We’re going down, but we’re going down in a limousine.”

And let’s not forget “Whistles from the Sky.” The closer. Very dramatic, very classy. It sounds like the rapture, if the rapture had double kick drums and a laser show. Some people think it’s about death. I think it’s about legacy. And let’s be honest—nobody’s got a better legacy than me.

The band? Sean Horror, Flow, Meech K, and Soa Grihim—great names. Very edgy. Very theatrical. I respect that. These guys know how to put on a show. Not as good as mine, of course, but very impressive for what they’re working with. A real “family bound by the night,” they say.

Perfect? Almost. But they went big, they went loud, and most importantly, they went DARK. And that, folks, is how you win.
