Defiler’s Jacob Shaw Announces Solo Project GRIM DISTRICT
30th May 2025Emerging from the shadows of a decade-spanning career in music, Grim District marks the uncompromising solo return of Jacob Shaw—best known as the founding force behind Defiler, whose 2010 breakout “Cryomancer” ignited millions of views and catapulted him into international venues from Japan to Eastern Europe – sharing stages with bands like Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, and Korn.
After a detour into collaborative chaos with heavyweights from The Acacia Strain, Bury Your Dead, and Emmure, under the one-off banner Painless, Jacob Shaw resurfaces with new track “Trumpet Blast” – a self-produced, self-mixed, and self-mastered assault on the senses. Its cataclysmic energy sets the tone for the forthcoming Grim District EP. Shaw’s inevitable return to his craft is not revival—it’s reckoning.
