Elles Bailey Announces Her Latest Release and Shares New Video
18th September 2019 0 By Jon DeauxBritain’s rising blues and country singer-songwriter, Elles Bailey, announces the physical CD release of her new album Blacktop Companion, as well as the fabulous first track from the album, along with its brand-new, accompanying video.
Blacktop Companion is a special 9-track companion disc for Elles’s successful second album Road I Call Home. It’s available for pre-order on her website and features 3 fully-produced, previously-unheard tracks from Elles’ Road I Call Home recording sessions in Nashville; 3 live-in-the-studio alt band versions of songs from Road I Call Home; acoustic versions of Miss Me When I’m Gone and Medicine Man; not to mention a cover of Levon Helm’s When I Go Away.
“For me,” Elles reflects, “Blacktop Companion marks the continuation of this epic Road I Call Home adventure that I have traveled for the last year or so and it tells a lot more of the story! It also highlights my incredible live band who have toured this record with me, and I am so grateful for their talents, humour and for just being wonderful human beings!’
Elles Baliley’s live band are: Joe Wilkins – Guitar and Backing Vocals, Matthew Waer – Bass and Backing Vocals, Jonny Henderson – Organ and Backing Vocals and Matthew Jones – Drums and Backing Vocals
N.B. Elles won’t be releasing Blacktop Companion digitally, but there will be a few single releases ahead of the album – which will be available from November 8th – to coincide with the start of Elles’ forthcoming Headline Autumn tour (funded by The Arts Council).
Out on 13th September, the first single from this selection of songs is a fully-produced cover of John Prine’s wonderful Angel From Montgomery and Elles is releasing the video for the track
“Penned by the incomparable John Prine, it’s one of my favourite songs,” says Elles, “I’ve been playing it out live, on and off, for the last couple of years. I recorded this version in Nashville in the same session as I recorded most of Road I Call Home – which was almost 18 months ago – so I’m looking forward to sharing this with the world.”
Watch the video and you’ll see Elles in action, recording the song in-studio. It proves a magical match for the soulful timbre of her voice, accompanied by a classic Wurlitzer Electric Piano and the marvellous musicians who recorded with her at the fabled Sound Emporium in Nashville.
The single’s release date coincides with Americana fest in Nashville, in the USA, where Elles will be playing. She then comes back to Europe and with be touring through Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany, and will open from Kris Barras at the end of October before heading out on her own headline tour of the U.K. Elles will also be playing a full-band live session on NPO Radio 2 on 7th December: a live show in a theatre, with 2 songs and an interview and will play Rotterdam on the 8th Dec.
Road I Call Home debuted at no.1 in Amazon Blues Bestsellers, no 13 in the Official Country Charts, no 24 in the official Americana charts and no 2 iTunes Blues Charts. Since release in March, it’s now reached over a million streams on Spotify, whilst ‘Deeper’ came in a close second in Classic Rock’s Tracks Of The Week and was praised as “Classy, rich & Soulful.”
Genuinely calling the road her home, Elles has kept up a relentless touring schedule throughout 2018/10, including tours with Grammy Award-winning Mike Farris, Kris Barras, Martin Harley. She’s also sold out her own headline tours of the UK and Europe.
