Eluveitie – Ànv – Album Review
6th May 2025From the misty glens and windswept shores of a forgotten realm emerges “Eluveitie,” a Folk, Celtic death metal band whose music is as fierce as a Highland storm.Their new album ‘ Ànv‘ was released through Nuclear Blast on the 25th April 2025.
This album brings a whole array of delicious delicacies to the table.
1) Emerge
Their sound is a maelstrom of growling vocals that speak of ancient battles and vengeful spirits, underpinned by blast beats and relentless double bass drumming that evoke the thunder of war drums.
Yet, piercing through the brutal onslaught are ethereal female vocals, weaving haunting melodies that whisper of forgotten gods and mystical forests.
The traditional Celtic instrumentation is not mere window dressing; bagpipes wail amidst the distorted guitars, the mandolin dances nimbly through the sonic landscape, and the harp and violins add layers of sorrowful beauty, all while sharp guitar riffs cut through the mix like a honed claymore, creating a truly unique and captivating sonic experience.
This is Eluveitie’s 1st studio album to feature hurdy-gurdy player & violinist Lisa Sophie Fischer.
