Fanny: The Reprise Years 1970 -1973, 4CD Box Set REVIEW
8th August 2024Strap one on and get ready, because Fanny: The Reprise Years 1970-1973 is here to give your music collection a serious jolt. This 4-CD box set isn’t just any old release; it’s a pulsating, all-out rock ‘n’ roll seduction that’ll leave you gasping for more.
These ladies didn’t just flirt with rock stardom; they grabbed it by the… well, you get the idea. Bursting onto the scene in the early ’70s, Fanny was one of the first all-female rock bands to straddle the charts and leave a serious mark. With The Reprise Years box set, they’re back to tease, tantalize, and, satisfy every last rock ‘n’ roll itch you’ve got.
This collection is a lot like a well-oiled machine—one that purrs just right. The first disc slides in with their self-titled debut, and before you know it, you’re grooving along, feeling that deep, rhythmic pulse of bass and drums that gets your hips moving in ways you didn’t know they could. Fanny knows how to hit all the right notes, making you feel things you haven’t felt since your first crush on the lead singer of a band that your parents definitely did not approve of.
As you move through the set, it just keeps getting better and better. By the time you get to their sophomore effort Charity Ball, you’re fully under their spell. The guitars wail, the vocals moan, and you’re swept away in a wave of sound so powerful, it’s like you’re riding a Harley down a highway at midnight, with nothing but the wind and the rumble between your legs. These tracks throb with energy and confidence, leaving no doubt that Fanny knows exactly what they’re doing.
The third disc, Fanny Hill, is where things start to heat up. It’s got that raw, dirty edge that makes you want to throw caution to the wind and see where the night takes you. Every song is an invitation, a promise of what’s to come if you just let go and give in to the music. You’ll find yourself lost in the groove, feeling that undeniable urge to turn up the volume and let the sound wash over you—harder, louder, just the way you like it.Finally, the fourth disc closes things out with Mother’s Pride, and by this point, if you’re not fully spent, you’re doing it wrong. This is the cool-down you didn’t know you needed, a sultry, smoldering finale that leaves you breathless and satisfied, but also craving just a little bit more.
So, if you’re in the mood for a rock ‘n’ roll experience that’s as intense as it is irresistible, Fanny: The Reprise Years is the box set for you. It’s a 4-CD marathon of pleasure that hits all the high notes, takes its time in all the right places, and leaves you thoroughly rocked, rolled, and ready to hit the replay button.
Once you’ve had a taste of Fanny, you’ll definitely be coming back for more.
