Fast-Rising Anthemic Rockers DETROIT RUN Exclusive Track-by-Track Breakdown Of ‘Defiance – Part 1’

Fast rising Brit anthemic rockers, DETROIT RUN, are set to release their stunning new EP, Defiance – Part 1, which is out on Friday 30th May. We exclusively caught up with the guys and asked them to give an exclusive track by track breakdown of the album:

Chained Heart

“Chained Heart” is all about the ups and downs of love. It captures that feeling of being stuck in a relationship while still wanting to break free. With catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the song really hits home for anyone who’s felt torn between staying and going. The music builds up to an intense chorus that pulls you right in, making “Chained Heart” a relatable anthem for those who’ve experienced the heavy side of love.

Invincible

“Invincible” is all about staying true to yourself, even when others doubt you. The lyrics capture that inner fire and resilience, reminding you that you can rise up no matter what. It’s a powerful anthem to remind anyone that they are unstoppable and ready to take on anything. We stripped back the verses and made the chorus hooks as big as we could to make it feel as anthemic as possible and we feel that we were able to achieve this.

Prototype

“Prototype” comes from us all currently seeing a world making huge steps forward with the likes of artificial intelligence (whether it is for the best or worse), and no one knows what kind of future that will leave us. We have all seen films like ‘Terminator’ or played video games such as ‘Cyberpunk’ that show us just how bleak a future led by machines can be. We wanted to create a post-apocalyptic aesthetic through the lyrics in the song that may make people think twice about the future of A.I.

The chorus of the song explains the downfall of society, and the collapse of mankind through the lines “you built this all, just to watch it fall” and then followed with, “play the games of a sinner” to really hit home the realisation that the rise of the machines and the end of the human race will all be created by humanity’s own hands.

Sleepwalker

Summer 2023 is when “Sleepwalker” was created, and it was all whilst we were on our UK tour. Spending long hours in a van across the country gave us a lot of time to think and reflect. We had a very basic recording setup along for the ride and we were able to lay down the majority of the song on the go. Lyrically the song relates to those people who have “weekend relationships” and are wanting more but real life gets in the way the rest of the week.

Tightrope

Struggling with mental health is a subject that relates to a lot of people, and it also hits home with ourselves in the band as well. The song relates to the daily battles that people have inside (whatever they may be) that it almost feels like we are “walking on tightropes” in order to just to try and keep on going through life.”
