Fit For An Autopsy – The Nothing That Is Album Review
19th November 2024 0 By QuinccyReleased on October 24, 2024, “The Nothing That Is” is the latest album released by American deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy released via Nuclear Blast. Originally formed in 2008 the band has gone from strength to strength successfully releasing multiple albums and EPs as part of their seemingly ever-growing discography. Although the band has been through multiple member changes they continue to power on through; the current lineup for Fit For An Autopsy is Will Putney (Guitar), Pat Sheridan (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Tim Howley (Guitar), Josean Orta (Drums), Joe Badolato (Lead Vocals) and Peter “Blue” Spinazola (Bass).
I did find this album more melodic in aspects than Fit For An Autopsy’s previous releases such as “Oh What the Future Holds” (2022) and much older stuff from “Absolute Hope Absolute Hell” (2015) however still enjoyed “The Nothing That Is” as a whole and thought in all honest it was fucking great. A ++.
Highlighted tracks for me on this album would have to be “Savior Of None / Ashes of All”, “Spoils of the Horde”, “Red Horizon” and the self-titled track “The Nothing That Is”. The tracks follow true to the usual aggressive guitar riffs, brutal breakdowns, and intense emotional depths of the Fit For An Autopsy signature style that has been noted and loved, being able to bring that technical edge to their sound whilst still remaining true to their deathcore roots.
Overall, the album is a great testament to the legacy of Fit For An Autopsy with this album being possibly in my opinion one of the best albums I’ve listened to in 2024 so far (note to self; I should actually start putting together a list of the top 20 albums for me personally in 2024, this one would on there for sure but there have been so many good albums out there this year that need a revisit and shout out!!). For anyone who appreciates the heavier side of music, this album is definitely worth a listen. The album easily gains a 10/10 rating and would highly recommend it (maybe multiple times… I mean it’s run time isn’t too bad sitting at 43 minutes 25 seconds).
