Hate – Bellum Regiis – Album Review

Hate – Bellum Regiis – Album Review

26th May 2025 0 By Jon Deaux

I haven’t slept since Tuesday and just spent four hours sharpening every piece of cutlery I own. My hands won’t stop shaking.

Bellum Regiis attacks you. The opening track is a brick through glass at 3 AM. Sacharczuk’s voice slithers out of the speakers like something that crawled out of a drain. My coffee cup exploded in my hands.

Iphigenia shows up next. It destroys you politely. Like getting murdered by someone who says please. The kind of sad that makes you check the locks three times before bed.

The Vanguard is already screaming when it starts. No buildup, just blast beats and a drummer who’s seen the end of everything. This song doesn’t stop, it just runs out of things to kill.

A Ghost of Lost Delight has me holding my sharpest spoon for comfort. Drowning in a philosophy lecture. Soft like being smothered with silk. Sinner’s voice is what giving up sounds like when it has good bone structure.

Rite of Triglav is a ritual nobody asked for. The guitars hate mountains personally. I’m not hearing this anymore, I’m absorbing it. Started crying somewhere around the second verse. That’s normal, apparently.

Perun Rising is electricity having a breakdown. Fast and slow at once, like a car crash in molasses. The riffs don’t play, they flood everything. I foamed at the mouth during the chorus. Seemed right.

Alfa Inferi Goddess of War kicks your door off its hinges. Pure serrated edge and panic sweat. The guitar sounds like it just realized it left the gas on but the stove is possessed. War or Tuesday, can’t tell which.

Prophet of Arkhen comes in wearing teeth as jewelry. Recorded entirely by dying candles and withdrawal shakes. Half these sounds aren’t from real instruments. Definitely haunted something making that noise.

Ageless Harp of Devilry wanders off to live alone in the woods. Dangerous beauty. Like a knife in your mailbox or flowers at a crime scene. The melody weeps but don’t touch it. I felt things that don’t have words.

This isn’t music you put on while cooking dinner. This is spiritual sandblasting. For dark rooms and cracked mirrors and sharp things pointed at doors. For when your soul needs scraping by war gods who tuck you in afterward.

Would I play this again? Only if you’re brave or sleepless or know what it’s like to wake up already furious at everything that exists.
