Indiana Trio The Cold Stares Reveal New Song “Cross the Line” + UK July Shows Inc. Maid of Stone Festival
7th July 2023The Indiana trio, The Cold Stares, have spent the start of the summer winding their way around the streets of Europe, electrifying audiences and they are now set to the UK for a run of dates that include headlining performances in Sittingbourne and Southampton, they will be playing with The Damn Truth in London before their first UK festival performance when they headline the Phoenix Stage at the Maid of Stone Festival in Kent. Tickets are available HERE. To celebrate the tour, they have revealed an unheard song, “Cross the Line,”“Cross The Line” was part of the Voices album session the band recorded in Nashville. The song is a swirl of Univibe Strat tones and Fuzz Box sounds stapled to a snarly lyric about a vindictive lover. Talking about the song singer-guitarist Chris Tapp says, “When it came time to cut the album down to 13 tracks we pulled “Cross The Line” to hold it and another track for single release, just because we felt they would work well alone. It was a great opportunity to explore some different tones on the guitar as well as push ourselves into new territory with Bryce on bass.”
Talking about the tour, he goes on to say,” We’ve been amazed by the turnout and enthusiasm of the fans on this run. We are very excited to be back in the UK for another round of shows accompanying the “Maid Of Stone” festival. We love our UK fans and our only regret was that time restraints on the schedule only allowed us a week of shows. Playing in the UK always feels like home, because it’s the birthplace of British Blues which has always had one of the biggest impacts on the songwriting and our mentality as a band. It’s part of our DNA.”
Self-produced by the band and recorded almost entirely over just two days with engineer Mark Needham (Taj Mahal, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Walk the Moon, Fleetwood Mac), ‘Voices’ stands as The Cold Stares’ most mature, eclectic collection yet, balancing gritty muscle and tender emotion in equal measure. The band released multiple videos from the album in The Joy, Nothing But The Blues, Throw That Stone , Got No Right (live) and recently revealed Nothing But The Blues (Live and Stripped)
“We approached ‘Voices’ as each song being an idea for a film,” Tapp explains. “I think they still work well together but provide the listener a little bit more of a journey through the course of the album than we’ve provided in the past.”
Recently, their song “One Way Outta Here” – from the album ‘Head Bent’ – was the featured track on episode 3 of the final FX season of Mayans, and tunes from their albums turned up everywhere, from ESPN and TNT to the hit video game Cyberpunk 2077.
Live is where the band truly thrives, and they’ve flexed that muscle on the road with the Rival Sons, Larkin Poe, Reignwolf, Spoon, Grand Funk Railroad, and Thievery Corp, among others. Chris Tapp (vocals, guitar), Brian Mullins (drums), and Bryce Klueh (bass) have a stage presence of electrifying authenticity. It is not one to be missed.
