Interview with Mark from Booze & Glory
21st March 2017Hi Guys Linzi here from All About The Rock, I hope the start of the year has been a good one for you!
Coming from all different parts of the world seems crazy, if your not all in the same place how do you go about rehearsing and having band practices?
We’ve always been an international band and have ways of making it work. We get together, we tour, write and record. As is the nature of these things, band members change, usually due to outside commitments. For the last year and a half, we’ve had Frank Pellegrino on drums. Bubbles did the album with us, but is now spending a year in Australia, so we’ve got our friend Al playing bass.
I’m living back in Poland now, Frank in Italy and Liam and Al still live in London. We have our own studio now in Poland, so we’ve all been there rehearsing ahead of our European tour.
How did you go about recruiting the new guys in the band?
We’ve known Frank for years – he’s done several of our videos, going back to “London Skinhead Crew”. We’ve known Al for years too, so when Bubbles went to Australia, asked him to come and play bass for us.
You have a US tour lined up for May, have you got anything special lined up for this?
We’re really looking forward to getting back over to the US. West Coast in May, East coast in September. We’ll be playing lots of songs from the new album and will have Vinyl and T-shirts that will only be available to buy at the US shows.
Your new album ‘Chapter IV’ is out on 17th March, do you want to tell us a little bit about this and how the recording went?
Chapter IV is a bit of a step forward for us. We spent a lot longer than usual on the writing, recording, production and running order. We’ve expanded on our usual sound by using instruments we haven’t previously used, such as Banjo, Mandolin, Piano, Accordion and even a string section!
Does the album cover represent the band on their journey with the car heading down a road?
Yes, that’s exactly it.
My favourite track on the album was track 4 ‘Life’s a Gamble’ the way it started with the really eerie sounding guitar really drew me in, do you have a favourite track off the album?
It’s really difficult to pick a favourite song from the new album. As I said, we spent a lot of time working on the running order so that it flows as a single piece of work. Of course there are moments that stand out: “Days, Months, Years” has the instruments i just mentioned, “Back On Track” is really fun to play, as its a pretty energetic one, “Violence And Fear” has a really strong message to it…. All of the songs stand out for their own reasons. We’re really proud of it as a whole.
Can we expect you to come a do a tour in Europe once your finished in the States?
We’re touring Europe before we go to the US, Starting 10th March, through to 29th April, as well as festivals after the West Coast tour (Hellfest, Rebellion and more), before heading back to the US to tour the East Coast.
What’s next for the band?
As I said, we’re touring a lot, so we’ll see you on the road!!
Cheers for your time guys I really appreciate it, I look forward to catching up with you guys soon!
