Jack J Hutchinson Releases ‘Rip It Up’ and Premieres Video
2nd February 2024Jack J Hutchinson releases another fiery, fury-filled single from his new 10-track album, ‘Battles’ which is released Friday 9th Feb.
‘Battles’, was recorded at Momentum Studios in Plymouth and produced and co-written with Josiah J Manning (Kris Barras Band, Inglorious). “Working with Josiah was an eye-opener,” Jack reflects, “Josiah encouraged me to write meaningful lyrics more upliftingly, and that’s what this new music is. It felt like unlocking who I am as an artist.”
Josiah J Manning plays a key role in ‘Rip It Up’ too, as Jack J Hutchinson explains: “The song was co-written with Josiah J Manning, who also plays second guitar on the song. The solo nabs a few lines from Led Zep’s ‘Rock and Roll’, whilst the riff is straight out of the Ozzy book of tricks. It was the last track to be recorded for the album, so the vocals were sung with a lot of venom. I didn’t have to worry about doing any more tracks the next day, so it was the case of belt it out, job done – it’s time for the pub! It’s going to open our sets on the tour as it’s such a full-throttle track. It’s going to be fun!”
“The track is a dig at all those people that focus on the negatives and blame others for their own misfortune,” Jack adds, “It’s a call to arms to stand up, take a long hard look in the mirror and see that change begins within.”Jack is included in Planet Rock’s 50 albums to look forward to in 2024.
He’s also included in RUSHONROCK.COM’s 15 acts to look out for this year, with the influential site praising and predicting great things for the “Blues brother-come-classic rock king…” adding “Let’s just say Jack’s the lad for 2024.”
Powerplay Magazine awards the album 10/10 and say “Melodic rock with precision attack.”
“The trio are firing on all cylinders…it is the best body of work that Hutchinson has produced thus far.” Concludes Metal Planet Music
‘Battles’ — due for release just one week today –sees the tough, resilient rock troubadour at his most exposed, It’s fuelled by catharsis, purging darkness and hurt. Drawing on this gives Jack more strength and greater impact than any of his previous releases. The result is more honest and open, in its songwriting, lyrics and guitar playing. It’s about telling a story with guitar and voice.
‘Battles’ will launch in London at the 02 Academy2 Islington followed by a full tour.
