Kris Barras Band Reveals New Video For ‘6am (live from Momentum Studios)’

23rd October 2020 0 By John Deaux

The Kris Barras Band have revealed the new video for ‘6am (Live from Momentum Studios).

Barras has been busy over the last few months with his Box Room Sessions from home creating acoustic versions of his back catalogue as well as covers, suggested by fans ranging from Foo Fighters and Guns n Roses, to Chris Isaak and Bon Jovi.

He also brought the full band into Momentum Studios, Plymouth for a full on performance and have now released the live version of ‘6am’ from that session. Taken from his first Top 50 UK album ‘Light It Up,’ that was released in September 2019. It was an album that saw him at his most expressive yet, forcing himself out of his comfort zone. “I kinda forced myself to write songs a different way. The biggest difference for this album was that I didn’t pigeonhole myself in any way, I didn’t feel like I had to conform. I just sat down and wrote songs I wanted to write, with a sound I wanted to produce, not thinking about genre whatsoever.”

Talking about this version of ‘6am’ he says; “This track was always one of my dark-horse faves from the ‘Light It Up’ album. It was one of the last songs I wrote in the lead up to the recording sessions and really came to life in the studio.”

He continues, “This song is about dealing with mental struggles and is perhaps more pertinent now, than ever before. It talks metaphorically about hoping for the light at the end of tunnel, wishing and hoping for better times. But also literally, with having sleepless nights worrying. We didn’t ever get the chance to actually play this one live to real people….so we decided to do a live session version from Momentum Studios in Devon, UK”

The Kris Barras Band had a whirlwind ride over the last 2 years until the international pandemic took hold. The band had toured and played shows with Black Stone Cherry, Beth Hart, GUN, King King, The Magpie Salute, Therapy?, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Johnny Lang and Walter Trout. As well as stunning performances at festivals such as Ramblin’ Man Fair and Planet Rockstock. He played to 3 million people on BBC Radio 2 – which caused host Richard Madeley to exclaim, “that’s the reason I love doing this show!”

Barras even found time to join Supersonic Blues Machine as the new singer-guitarist with the legendary Billy F. Gibbons and following a stint as guest presenter for Planet Rock Radio, he now presents a weekly Saturday show from 2pm to 4pm on Feedback Radio.

The Kris Barras Band will also be hitting the road in 2021, supporting Thunder at the SSE Wembley Arena on 15th May and be joining Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry for a month from 9th September and culminating at the legendary Royal Albert Hall on 29th September.
