Motionless In White – Manchester Victoria Warehouse – 21st February 2025

24th February 2025 0 By McKenzie Jones

I remember first listening to Motionless In White when Graveyard Shift came out. I fell in love with them, and I always wanted to see them live, but I never got the chance. That changed at Download 2022, when I finally got to see them live, and they were absolutely worth the wait.

Three years later, they are finally back on their headline tour of the UK for the Touring the End of the World Tour, which is the album tour for 2022’s Scoring the End of the World . They performed to a sold-out Victoria Warehouse (which security told me was 3250 people).

They are joined on this tour by Brand of Sacrifice and Fit For A King with this show in Manchester being the second to last show on the UK leg of the tour just before they wrapped up the tour in London.

Opening up the show was the Canadian deathcore band Brand of Sacrifice. They were the only band on the set that I hadn’t heard of going into the event and I chose to go into their set blind.

I should clarify that I am not the biggest deathcore fan so looking back on this set it isn’t my usual choice of metal to listen to however, I have to admit that I really enjoyed the set. Only a deathcore band can walk out to the Pokémon theme song and make it look badass.

They tore through their 7 song setlist in what felt like no time at all and had the crowd opening the pits from the opening song Dawn to their final song Eclipse.

My main issue with the set was that at times it felt like I was struggling to hear the lead singer’s vocals. I can’t say if that was due to where I was stood or if it was due to a bad mix however, it did take away from the set a bit as it felt like I was having to struggle to hear the vocals.

I had a listen to them the following day and I was a fan of what I heard so I am hoping to get to see them live again one day down the road and see if it was just bad luck on the evening. Minus the vocal issues, the band sounded amazing instrumentally and was the perfect band to open the evening up.

Following on from them were Texas-based band, Fit For A King. They came out and opened with Vendetta which the sold-out crowd very quickly joined in with hearing ‘This is my Vendetta’ echo through the Victoria Warehouse.

It acted as a call for the crowd surfers and the pits to begin and by the end of the set I overheard it was 22 crowd surfers who had managed to get over the barrier during the set. The most notable of the bunch has to go to the two bananas who came over straight after each other.

They managed to get an 11-song set list as a support act which was great to see from them and ranged from fan favourite tracks like When Everything Means Nothing and Breaking the Mirror to their latest single TECHNIUM.

Have to give mention to Ryan Kirby whose vocals were nothing short of amazing during the set and the rest of the band especially bassist Ryan O’Leary who did not stop jumping off some part of the stage for the entirety of the setlist.

That leads us to the final band of the evening Motionless In WhiteChris Motionless promised the Manchester crowd that the set would include songs from their entire discography and he came through with that promise with a packed 18-song setlist with there being no songs that I felt were missing out of the setlist.

Before I get into the band though I do also want to mention how good the production value of the show was. The lighting and visuals would have been enough to make anyone happy, with the addition of the Cherry Bombs as dancers for the show it elevated the whole show. Motionless proved this evening they deserve the headline spot in these venues going forward and I am hoping this remains the case going forward.

The set opened up with Meltdown from Scoring the End of the World and then immediately went into a pyro-filled Necessary Evil (The one and three song rule makes a lot of sense now).

Ryan Kirby came back out midway through the set to do Slaughterhouse with Chris and this might of been the highlight of the night for me.  I will never get bored of hearing the scream of ‘One Mutilation Under God’ and hearing it live again just makes it even better.

The mystery song for the evening was Devil’s Night which was a really nice surprise to get to hear live and then they closed the show out with Another Life Eternally Yours.

For me this show was perfect and was exactly what I was hoping they would be able to do with a full set after seeing them at download. I don’t think Motionless have even come close to hitting their peak yet which makes me really excited to see where they go from after this tour.
