Noiz Weekender – Sunday Review

Noiz Weekender – Sunday Review

19th October 2016 0 By DJ Pixie

Well, here we are again, at what seems to be our new home away from home, Rebellion Bar in Manchester.

Rebellion
A wise man once said ‘From Little Acorns grew Mighty Oak Trees’, with that being said Rebellion has become one of the fastest growing hot spots in Manchester for Rock & Metal bands, and tonight did not disappoint when it came to live music.
With a £5 entry fee (absolute bargain) for 5 bands from all different parts of the UK each with their own unique sound, this was a night we had to check out!

shallow-waters
Up first were Shallow Waters a 3 piece new wave band from Wigan.
With an eclectic style these guys kick off the night with a slow-paced song which keeps a steady pace with deep vocals, slow-paced drums and mellow bass.
They have a really relaxed vibe with light riffs, where rhythm and melodies flow neutral throughout their set.

lute
Up next are Lute a 4 piece prog rock band from Manchester.
This band has harnessed a unique sound, their music more creative like a form of art.
With long solos which emulate into dedicated technical skills on both guitar and bass, this bands musical harmonies gel together, and the energy they project to the audience is that of a well oiled machine.
Even with slight technical difficulties with one of their guitars this band continues to soldier on through their set.
With eloquent vocals that harmonize and tantalising soft guitar riffs which masterfully enhance their songs, this band has produced an amazing set.

bad-earth-2

Next on stage are Bad Earth who are a 3 piece Hard Rock band from Denbigh.
These guys instantly catch my eye as soon as they start their set with powerful riffs and thunderous drum beats, from the get go these guys had everyone in awe.
With Steve on vocals , if you close your eyes and imagine Lemmy mixed with Zakk Wylde that’s the kind of vocals which are produced, really rough deep booming, along with that he has the cheeky balls to the wall fun attitude needed and that’s exactly what this front man projects.
With songs like ‘Cruel God’ that punch out some strong vocals, with drums building up, quickening the tempo mixed with crunchy guitar riffs, there is nothing you cannot not like about this band.

baal

Ba’al are up next, a 5 piece doom/sludge band from Sheffield.
For me these guys were completely out of my comfort zone.
With heavy, chunky riffs and high wailing vocals, low tuned guitars, slow tempo and deep booming bass, this was not a type band i would usually go and see as these guys are really an acquired taste.

regulus
Regulus was the band I had come down to see, as I had heard nothing but good things about them after their epic set at HRH Doom Vs Stoner event in Sheffield and after signing to ‘Off Yer Rocka Recordings’, I just had to check these guys out.
These guys state in their biography on Facebook that they are ‘groove laden’ and ‘riff drenched’, I can happily say they did not disappoint when it comes to this, full of tasty little delicacies to tantalize your musical taste buds.
From stepping out onto the stage this band had the audience eating out of the palm of their hand.
With extra dimension added with twiddly bass lines and intricate guitar work, with fast paced drumming layered throughout this band have mastered a perfect set.
The songs catchy and well performed they kick things up a gear and show everyone that this is their stage and tonight they completely dominate showing that they are #1.
With the crowds lapping up their every note, this band was a perfect way to end an evening.
Regulus have earned their mark here tonight by proving their worth, watch out for these guys in future and make a mental note of their gig schedule as these guys are ones you will not want to miss!
