REVIEWS OF JANUARY UK & RoI TOUR
“Tate retains a premier league voice, sounding better than ever across his high-octave range.
A man at the height of his powers.”
RECORD COLLECTOR
“A very good rendition of one of the greatest ever metal albums played in its entirety.
Excellent nostalgia. Catch this while you can.”
POWERPLAY
“The sheer quality and consistency of the veteran frontman’s peerless performance was,
quite simply, breathtaking.”
HRH MAGAZINE
“Tonight, it’s all about the music. No bells and whistles, just Tate’s golden voice and a young,
enthusiastic multl-national band.”
NORTHERN ECHO
Geoff Tate sold more than 25 million records at the helm of Queensrÿche, the band he fronted for
three decades from their inception through to 2012, a thirteen album tenure that was marked by
exploration, intrigue, bold risks and gratifying results. Their Grammy nominated 1988 album
‘Operation: Mindcrime’, a rock opera about a recovering drug addict, thrust Tate’s unique social
consciousness, style and expertly crafted lyrics into the national spotlight, putting the Seattle act
act firmly on the map with one of the most inspired Rock albums of its era while also defining
Progressive Metal in the process.
When Tate left the band, their divorce settlement entitled him to perform the record in its entirety,
while he also formed a brand new group under that same name. Operation: Mindcrime is a
creative platform that continues in the spirit of that historic album, spawning concepts as grand
as the music and intertwining the intensity of Tate’s iconic past and the provocative, progressive
mindset that has made him one of music’s most resolute forces and frontmen. His group have
released a conceptual trilogy of albums to date: ‘The Key’ (2015), ‘Resurrection’ (2016) and
‘The New Reality’ (2017).
Having received some of his best reviews in years in early 2018 when he played a run of UK
dates with a set that included the entire ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ album in its 30th Anniversary
year, Tate returns in December for a further tour. Support slots will be shared by two acts:
UNTIL DEATH DO US PART
The group was founded in 2016 when American singer Emily Tate (daughter of Geoff) teamed
up with Scottish musician Kieran Robertson to create a new form of synthetic heavy rock.
With Emily’s dark and sombre lyrics pairing easily with Kieran’s emotional musical creations,
they have swiftly developed a unique signature sound using heavily distorted guitars, synth
layering and sampling underpinned by a Djent-like bass tone and powerful drums with
Emily’s expressive, haunting vocals sitting atop. They won many admirers when supporting
Geoff on his previous UK tour.
MARK DALY
Hailing from Cork, Mark Daly is a powerful singer/songwriter with a hard rock pedigree.
Initially forming and fronting rock act The Voodoos, with whom he performed at the MTV
EMA’s, he eventually went solo and released the singles ’The Hearts Reminder’ and
‘Your World’, both of which reached the upper echelons of the Irish Rock and Scottish New
Music charts. His debut solo album, ‘When The Stars Align’, was released last month.
It may have been a long time coming, but it has definitely been worth the wait.
