Party Cannon – Stupefying The UK Tour 2025 with Cage Fight – The Ferret, Preston; 12TH MARCH 2025.

14th March 2025 0 By Laura Jane

The first thing I thought when I saw this gig was “Who’s idea was it to host this at The Ferret?” but my god, what a good decision that was. I would have never imagined seeing Party Cannon playing at such a small venue but honestly it’s been possibly one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time even if I got bonked on the head multiple times by inflatables was it worth it, yes… yes it was but we’ll get back on to Party Cannon shortly…

The Ferret is a smaller venue located on Fylde Rd, Preston. It has played host to a variety of artists from indie to metal and continues to thrive as a local venue for shows in the North West. Tonight’s show was hosted by Madhouse Promotions, more events and shows from Madhouse Promotions can be found >> HERE <<.

Opening up the evening was the most brutal soft spoken band I’ve ever seen, Cage Fight. There’s a meme that often circulates about vocalists who absolutely release hell when performing and during the songs are soft spoken and this sums up Cage Fight. Vocalist Rachel Aspe has been one of THE most impressive female vocalists I’ve seen in a while with her vocal range being on another level whilst bringing a level of sass to the stage that was magnificent to watch, I could not take my eyes of her during her performance I was genuinely memorized.

Musically, the set was polished and flawless with the crowd starting pits within minutes of them taking to the stage. It was nice to see the band playing homage during their set to the legendary vocalist Trevor Strnad (Black Dahlia Murder) who tragically passed in 2022 and was reknown within the metal scene for the work he did and influence he had on a lot of music that is currently out there. I’ve wanted to catch Cage Fight for a while now but never had them play at a show locally where I’ve been available to attend and I’m so fucking glad that I’ve finally been able to catch these guys.

With this evening being just a two band affair, Party Cannon took to the stage directly after and as the final band for the evening. It’s not often that you only get two bands playing an evening but as you get older these sort of gigs are a blessing. It was actually nice to just have focus on two solid bands and to be fair, made the show a lot more enjoyable with this sort of dynamic -maybe that’s me showing my age.

Party Cannon hailing from Dunfermline Scotland know how to bring a party to a performance and did not disappoint. Known for lowering IQ with their unique blend of Slam and death metal (self donned genre of ‘Party Slam’), riffs, insane blastbeats and inflatables the show was a spectacle to behold. We were lucky enough to catch Party Cannon back in 2024 on their previous ‘Vomitour UK’ (If you haven’t read about last times show you can see how things went down >> here <<) and I have to say seeing them in Preston tonight felt 1000% better, by no means last time was there a negative thing to say but this show they have definitely gone above and beyond. If you like heavy blast beats, mindless inflatable tossing and in general just seeing people do slow circle pits, it’s something you need to get your ass too.

Overall the night was a great experience as usual with the usual IQ lowering behavior from both the audience and band alike. It’s clear to see why both bands are doing so well at the moment and can’t wait to see what they bring in the future. Both of these bands are ones to not sleep on and if you get the opportunity, for your own pleasure take some time to check these out at a venue near you. It’s a shame this tour does not have more dates however there’s still enough to get a wiggle onto and the best part about it – all of the venues on this tour are smaller venues meaning you get to experience the bullshit intimately – what could be better?
