PARTY CANNON ‘UK VOMITOUR’- MANCHESTER 24TH SEPTEMBER 2024: REBELLION MANCHESTER – REVIEW
25th September 2024 0 By Laura JaneHere I am again, off again to Rebellion in Manchester for ANOTHER show. I’m starting to think I need to set up accommodation outside the venue for easier access for shows, maybe a nice small tent just to the side of the road.
Tonight’s lineup boasted a trifecta of bands that promised to deliver an energetic and intense performance. There’s something undeniably electric about the atmosphere of live music, it’s a feeling that you can not get anywhere else and tonight was no exception it was a true unapologetic celebration of music and a spirited community. The complete show felt fast-paced and aggressive and there was no lack of enthusiasm shown from the crowd at any moment throughout the evening, even during band changeovers the atmosphere kept its strong buzz.
First to take to the stage and set the bar high for the rest to follow, Street Soldier. As the opening act, they sure set the tone for the whole evening with their gritty blend of hardcore and punk. Once the first chord is struck, the room erupts into a frenzy of movement (Pretty sure within 30 seconds I saw a pint go flying across the room…). I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of these guys personally until tonight and it was a delightful surprise bringing home a nostalgic feel from my teenage years when I was seeing bands such as Deez Nuts, TRC, CDC, and many others. Maybe I’ve just been out of touch with this genre of music for a while but it felt good to be reintroduced.
Following such a previous high bar I have to say Pintglass absolutely smashed it (I’m sure there’s a glass joke somewhere in there). Pintglass, is a band that has rapidly gained a reputation for their no-holds-barred approach to hardcore punk. Their music, a relentless barrage of sound, was matched only by their message of resilience and defiance. The crowd reciprocated this energy tenfold with chants of “Geeza. Geeza, Geeza” echoing through the room multiple times throughout their set.
Finally, headliners, Party Cannon, known for their vibrant stage presence brutal slam riffs, and a self-dubbed musical style referred to as “party slam” did not disappoint. Hailing from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland the boys showed Manchester an explosive performance, with vocal ranges that could impress a Demogorgon it was a superb show. Playing some of their well-known songs from “Weird, but not Illegal”, “Soft, White, Gelatinous Body” and “We prefer the term living impaired” I would highly recommend if you can catch them either on the VOMITOUR UK TOUR or any other time to check them out.
I would also like to comment on the notable attire of some of the crowd sporting Party Cannon’s merchandise, it sure did feel like I’d traveled back to the ’90s and was cruising around the aisles of Toy’R’Us and felt like the logo aesthetics were those of the aisle signs, Don’t get me wrong.. I’m not slandering it. As usual, when looking around in a sea of t-shirts that required a blooming Rosetta stone to decipher which bands merch it is, there was no undeniable mix-up of Party Cannons. I bloody love it! It was definitely a solid end to an evening showcasing their progression as a band without losing the raw edge or energy throughout the evening.
For those looking to lower their IQs with some high-energy party slam, Party Cannon’s gigs are not to be missed.
Although, only getting to see this show mid-way of their tour there is still time to catch Party Cannon on tour this year.
