Perturbator, The Haunted, Pig Destroyer, Warning and more announced for Damnation 2025
2nd December 2024Here we go again. It’s been just over a month since the Damnation Festival laid waste to the Bowler’s Exhibition Centre (BEC) this winter with a lineup armed with the likes of Nails, Dragged Into Sunlight, and Bleeding Through in what was a monumental showcase. Either through FOMO or as a direct result of having the most insane experience, Gavin and the crew managed to shift a reported 1700 ‘blind’ tickets for the 2025 edition, the majority coming within the first day of them going on sale! Selling over a quarter of the entire capacity without a band even being announced speaks volumes to the dedication of the fanbase and the trust they have in the promoter. Now, the time for announcements has come and the first 14 bands have now been made public. This is a recap of what to expect on what is to be a memorable 2-day 20th birthday bash…
Heart Stopping Returns
Those in attendance in 2022 managed to witness the magic and creative genius of Patrick Waller in his project 40 Watt Sun. This time round, we’ll have the chance to see him again in the reformation of Warning, one of the premier acts of the UK doom metal scene in what is surely to be one of the most hotly awaited sets of the weekend. They won’t be the only UK band reforming, with hardcore legends Stampin’ Ground also reforming in what will be a true nostalgia fest and one of those ‘I can’t believe this is really happening’ kind of moments. Having headlined one of the earlier editions of Damnation almost 20 years ago, it just feels right to see the logo for Swedish thrash legends The Haunted near the top of the festival poster with things coming full circle in a celebration of the festival’s most celebrated alumni.
Extreme Metal Fan Favourites
The Damnation fanbase asked, demanded, and they received. Singaporean grindcore act Wormrot take to the BEC next November. I can already envision what carnage they will cause! After pulling one of the largest crowds in Damnation history in 2022, Pig Destroyer returns in what is another blazing grindcore addition to the lineup. Also flying in from the USA, Brodequin adds more weight to what is becoming an increasingly heavy and brutal affair in a UK debut.
The New Blood
Portuguese black metal standouts Gaerea can seemingly do no wrong at the moment and will add Damnation to their ever-growing list of UK festival appearances, after slaying both Bloodstock and Fortress festivals in recent times. Black metal fans will also be satiated by the presence of Hellripper, one of the fastest-rising bands in the UK’s black metal scene.
Left Field
Damnation has always been known for making left-field bookings that you’ll be hard-pressed to find on lineups anywhere else in the country. Perhaps best illustrated by the appearance of French synthwave act Perturbator who will provide a live show that will be nothing short of biblical in proportions! This commitment to the more unique acts is represented by the likes of Gost, Meryl Streak, Mantar, Frail Body, and Crippling Alcoholism who complete the lineup.
