TRACKS TO PURCHASE – all of them, there is only 3

Pyrithion is a new project featuring Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine), Ryan Glisan (Allegaeon) and Andrew Godwin (ex-The Famine, Embodyment), they have formed as Tim Lambesis wanted to create a band more along the lines of a tradition death metal band. This Single/EP was written and recorded over a weekend Lambesis Studio (funnily enough Tim Lambesis studio) with session musicians filling in on drums and bass. Well actually only track 2 and 3 were recorded over the weekend as “The Invention of Hatred” had been previously released earlier on the internet as a teaser for Pyrithion.

This is traditional death metal and ‘The Invention of Hatred’ gives you a feel of what to expect of future releases from Pyrithion. Tim demonstrates new side to his vocal range with a deep death metal growl that sounds brutal, this is much darker and brutal vocal style than As I Lay Dying or Austrian Death Machine. Tim Lambesis incorporates his noticeable songwriting and his lyrics “Am I the invention of hatred, or was hatred born in me?” are great. “Bleed Out” is the shortest track coming in at 3 minutes and mixes punch in the face drumming with frantic riffs played over vocals ranging from death growls to blackened screams! The final song “Rest in the Arms of Paralyzed Beast” is the longest track clocking in at 5 minutes, Pyrithion show their ability to vary tracks with a beautiful guitar riff for the intro before the song breaks into a brutal and heavy breakdown in the middle.

This 3 track single is better than what most bands can do when writing an album in a few months, Pyrithion are writing a full length album and they will be a band to definitely watch out for in the future. Especially if ‘The Burden of Sorrow’ is anything to go by, this is brutal traditional death metal and I can’t wait for the debut album. For fans of Behemoth, Allegaeon, Obscura, Abysmal Dawn etc…

In the words of Arnhold and his band Austrian Death Machine “THIS IS BRUTAAAAALLLLLL…!!!” The video for The Invention of Hatred can be seen below.
