REVOLUTION RABBIT DELUXE GIVES AN EXCLUSIVE BIT OF BUNNY TO AATR OF THEIR INFLUENCES

South Wales post punkers, REVOLUTION RABBIT DELUXE kick onwards with their spanking new single and video, Parabellum, which is out on Friday 28th February.  Possessing a wealth of influence, we exclusively caught up with the band to find out which tracks have helped to define their sound:

“Tubeway Army – Are Friends Electric
Rev Rabb: What’s a slightly camp Seventies synth performance doing in my influences? Well, it was the moment I heard that synth introduction, I knew I wanted to write songs. It was a freeing moment, one that entailed me getting out a stringless classical guitar and a farfisa organ to learn the process.

Sleater-Kinney – You’re No Rock N Roll Fun

Max: As a teenager, I’d never heard all-female rock bands before I heard this song, which satirises a male-dominated punk scene full of guys who take themselves too seriously. Sleater-Kinney stood out to me as one of the few bands showcasing skilled female musicians unafraid to address social and political issues.

Silversun Pickups – Lazy Eye
Rev Rabb: It was a toss-up between this and the Pumpkins 1979, both very similar in their tone and pop sensibilities but this one pips 1979 with its slow build and roaring chorus. If only I could write a melody with such contrasts I’d die a happy hamster.
Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
Rev Rabb: Predictable, but is a huge influence on me. I remember watching this on Top of the Pops open mouthed and blown away. The contrasts with its stuttering guitar breaking into the glorious shouted chorus are supreme. It’s as big of a jaw dropper now as it’s ever been. Perfection.
Feeder – Buck Rogers
Rev Rabb: What a blistering song this is. Feeder’s Buck Rogers catapulted them into my awareness. The power and the feel of those guitars in the chorus are allowed to do their work unobscured by a complicated vocal line. It reminds me that vocals don’t need to be the focus all the time.”
