Seether – The Surface Seems So Far – CD Review

Seether – The Surface Seems So Far – CD Review

25th September 2024 0 By Suzie Rottencrotch

Sometimes you just need to scream into the void with a killer soundtrack and Seether has produced the goods with their latest outing The Surface Seems So Far.

This album is the sonic equivalent of a moody, late-night drive with the windows down. Shaun Morgan’s vocals are fire. One minute there’s his haunting melodies and the next growling like he’s been punched in the gut.

Musically there are hints of REM, Nirvana, and Soundgarden especially on the track Walls Come Down. It’s no bad thing.

As for hooks, there’s more of them than a fisherman’s hat. It’s well-balanced and exactly what you want from a Seether record. They really have pooled together all the best bits of their career so far and made what is quite possibly their masterpiece.

Score 8/10
