Seven Sisters: Shadow of A Fallen Star Pt.2, CD REVIEW
14th March 2025 0 By Jon DeauxHave you ever noticed how modern metal bands either sound like they’re trying to be Viking warlords or they just discovered synthesizers in their mom’s basement? Well, thank whatever cosmic overlord you believe in, because Seven Sisters get it right.
Shadow of A Fallen Star Pt. 2 has got that classic NWOBHM gallop, but instead of just slapping on the usual “Odin this, Valhalla that” lyrics, they weave an actual sci-fi concept that doesn’t sound like it was written by a guy who just watched Blade Runner for the first time. Seven Sisters have taken Iron Maiden, cut out the self-indulgence, and injected it with actual emotional weight.
Kyle McNeill’s vocals have got range, and more importantly, control. He knows when to hold back and when to let it rip, which is more than I can say for half the bands that think shrieking equals talent.
If you’re the kind of person who complains that “metal isn’t what it used to be,” stop whining and listen to this. Seven Sisters aren’t just paying tribute to the greats—they’re carving out their own path with this follow up to Pt.1 (reviewed HERE,) and if there’s any justice in this universe, they’ll be headlining festivals instead of whatever generic sludge passes for metal these days.
Shadow of A Fallen Star Pt.2 is an album that respects its audience. It’s smart, it’s heavy, and it’s got soul. And in a world of overproduced, soulless radio rock, that’s damn refreshing.
