THE 4 SKINS: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE 4 SKINS, EXPANDED CD REVIEW

THE 4 SKINS: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE 4 SKINS, EXPANDED CD REVIEW

23rd July 2024 0 By Suzie Rottencrotch

The Good, The Bad, and The 4 Skins  was originally released in 1982, it’s not just a good ol’ classic punk album.  This is one of those records that can really jolt you out of your socks! And thanks to this expanded version you get even more 4 Skins

Top Tracks: –
“Plastic Gangsters”: This track hits hard, mixing reggae vibes with punk oomph. And those lyrics? They’re like a slap to the face of superficiality. Ouch! – “Jealousy”: A high-octane number with a chorus that’s catchier than the common cold and a relatable theme of envy. It’s like the anthem of every punk soul out there. – “1984”: Inspired by that Orwell dude’s book, this one’s a wild critique with aggressive riffs and a rhythm that’ll make you want to jump around like a maniac.

“Sorry”: Between the sing-along chorus and raw vocals, this track digs into regrets and the mess we make in our personal relationships. It’s like therapy but with a punk rock twist. –

“Evil”: You’ve got menacing guitar work and lyrics that’ll make you go, “Whoa, that’s dark.” It’s like peeking into the band’s brooding side.

So these guys don’t mess about. Hoxton Tom McCourt’s guitar work is sharp enough to trim a hedge, perfectly complementing those in-your-face vocals. And you’ve got John Jacobs on bass and Pete Abbot on drums, laying down a solid foundation that’ll have you bopping your head like there’s no tomorrow. Lyrics and Themes: They’re not holding back here.

The album dives into social and political commentary, personal struggles, and street-level experiences. It’s like they’re putting the world under a microscope and saying, “Hey, look at this mess!”

The production style? Raw and unpolished, just the way punk was meant to be. That gritty sound gives the album this down-to-earth vibe that hits you right in the feels. Legacy: This album has left a lasting mark on punk music.

It’s like a time capsule of the 80s from the working-class perspective, delivered with the kind of passion that can wake the dead.

Whether you’re a punk veteran or a newbie to the scene, The Good, The Bad, and The 4 Skins packs a punch. It’s got that raw energy, those straight-shooting lyrics, and hooks that’ll lasso you right in. So, go ahead, and give it a whirl!
