Thee Headshrinkers – Head Cheese – CD Review

Thee Headshrinkers – Head Cheese – CD Review

2nd December 2024 0 By Suzie Rottencrotch

What happens when three guys in creepy masks stumble out of a garage, armed with fuzz pedals, a Vox Phantom, and zero plans to behave? You get Head Cheese (not to be mistaken for Dickcheese. That was an album by The Hard-ons)

Thee Headshrinkers slam on the gas pedal and never let up. They’ve crafted 12 tracks of chaotic, unapologetic garage punk that smell like motor oil, sound like a chainsaw, and feel like a bar fight. Somehow, amidst the walls of noise and lyrical growls, they manage to squeeze in some surf-rock twang with “Derivative” just to keep you guessing.

From the moment “Johnny” tears out of the gate, Thee Headshrinkers hit the gas like they have a death wish with you in the passenger seat without a seatbelt or a clue. These 12 tracks feel like a chaotic garage sale where everything is on fire.Thee Headshrinkers are like a punk rock horror film: loud, fast, and a little terrifying.

Head Cheese was recorded in just 3 days but, so was a house in Lagos, not really that impressive is it? The impressive bit is,  Thee Headshrinkers have created an album that will knock your teeth out and thank you for the experience.
