Toby Jepson- Raising My Own Hell

Toby Jepson- Raising My Own Hell

29th November 2013 0 By Matt Farrington

Fresh back in the ring solo after The Little Angels dissolved after the “One More For The Road” tour, Toby Jepson jumps back with a collection of 6 songs on this mini album.

Not one to remain idle for long this collection of acoustic driven tracks is a looser feel than the “Angels” or indeed some of his earlier work, it’s good to see Mr Jepson back in the saddle where he belongs and with opener “Raising My Own Hell” it’s clear to see why he is rated as a solo artist. “Four Letter Word” is for me a stand out track  with depth and rhythm twists with a folk underlay. The delicate “Shoes” reflects on a more serious subject of challenges throughout life, but an earnest track in itself.

It’s down to closer Funk/Blues track “Shadow Boxing” to finish things off and it’s a solid end to a worthy submission, just a shame there wasn’t more tracks to make it a complete knockout…

Score: 7 out of 10
