Tony Wright Acoustic Tour – Bannermans – Edinburgh 11th October 2022
12th October 2022I must be getting soft in my old age with all this constant travelling. Today it’s Bonny Donny to Bonny Scotland and yes, we’re back at the legendary bar to watch Tony Wright.
Tony is probably best known for being the frontman of Bradford rockers Terrorvison, but he’s written and released many acoustic tracks. Some melancholy, some upbeat but most of which are true stories that he’s made up himself.
Tonight he’s joined by Milli Evans (Terrorvision/Paradasise Lost) as they play the new album Anti from start to finish.
The album is a phenomenal body of work but live, it brings it to life.Buried You Deeper was inbloodycredible. Personally it’s my favorite on the album but live, it was heart warming and a track you can see that Tony has really worn his heart in his sleeve with this album and it’s designed to be listened to. It’s not meant to be put on in the background just for some noise. Once you’ve actually paid Anti some attention you’ll see WHY it’s not a background album.
There was plenty of banter and it’s quite obvious that Milli and Tony are very dear friends and joke around alot of the time. It’s so nice to see.
Of course we had a couple of ‘Vision tracks given the acoustic treatment. But it was Family and Friends that struck a chord. It’s very poigniant as that’s how Mr. Wright views his audience. The man really does care about who comes out to see him. It also proved that even tho the Terrorvison tracks are electric in nature, a good song, is a good song and they transposed well to acoustic. It takes a lot of guts and talent to hold an audience in the palm of your hand for the best part of 2 hours when you just have acoustic guitars.
As far as the audience in Bannermans were concerned, they could’ve played for 12 hours and they would’ve still wanted more.
If you see The Tony Wright Acoustic Tour (or TWAT for short) coming to a town near you, grab a ticket and your partner and have a very pleasant time in the company of a couple of great mates playing some incredible acoustic tunes..
Simply out of this fucking world.
Props to James MacDonald on front of house sound.
