Tremonti – Manchester O2 Ritz – 13th February 2025

21st February 2025 0 By McKenzie Jones

I have been a fan of Alter Bridge for a very long time. Admittedly, like most, my introduction was Edge in the WWE with his theme song. I fell in love with the band from there. It was through this that I was introduced to Mark Tremonti and his aptly named solo project, Tremonti.

I have been wanting to see him with his solo project ever since I first heard them so when the show was announced it was an easy decision to decide to go. I packed my camera, did a full day of work, and then got to commute to the O2 Ritz for my first gig there in a long time.

This tour was for his 2025 release The End Will Show Us How which I was fortunate to review when it came out and if you’re remotely interested to know what I think you can Click Here to read the review. The album was incredibly strong (spoilers, sorry) and I was excited to get to see some of the album performed live.

They are joined on this tour by Welsh metal band Florence Black who are another band I can add to my list of Welsh bands I’ve seen live.

It felt strange for there to only be one support act on this tour and I have gotten used to 2 or 3 at most gigs I have been to recently but admittedly it felt nice (especially when editing the photos for this show) as it gave them a chance to showcase themselves and not just get mixed in with a wave of support bands at the show.

The 7 song setlist was everything you can come to expect from a good rock band. The turnout for them was incredibly playing to a packed out Ritz which was great to see for a support act. It was a hard-hitting set with an incredibly badass guitar from guitarist and singer Tristan Thomas.

They are exactly what I love about seeing support bands. They brought an incredibly strong energy to the crowd and got everyone of their feet and ready for the main band. The closing song Sun & Moon was a standout of the set and ended the show strong with huge applause from the Manchester crowd.

My only complaint is I wished we got more of them. With them being the only support in the set, I was hoping we might get a 10-song set just to show them off even more as I really wanted to hear more of them by the end of the set.

Going on to the main band for the evening Tremonti. Before I get into the show itself I want to talk about the setlist briefly. The 16-song setlist covered tracks from their entire discography so no matter when you became a fan there definitely will be something in the set you will enjoy. But for a tour for the new album the main thing missing from the set… was the album.

I wasn’t expecting to hear the whole album but to only get 2 songs on the set be that album on an album tour just felt cheap and slightly misleading.

Looking past this, however, what a show they did do. From start to finish Tremonti showed why he is one of the best guitarists in rock right now and in my opinion, has some of the best vocals in rock and metal right now. Getting to hear Flying Monkeys live was a truly great moment in the set along with It’s Not Over which has quickly become one of my favorites off the new album.

Special guest on the tour Sophie Burrell came out to do Marching in Time with the band and with the album of the same name also being my favorite record of Tremonti I’m glad that it was included in the set.

Overall the show was an incredibly tight performance by all members of the band but praise definitely has to go to Garrett Whitlock who is incredibly talented on the drums and had my jaw on the floor at times during the set.
