TUNDRA – ETERNAL- Album Review
3rd April 2025I’ve just finished listening to “Eternal by Tundra. This album hits harder than my dad’s disappointment when I told him I wanted to be in music instead of medicine. The look on his face still haunts me.
When I listen to death metal, I often think, “This is nice, but I wish it sounded more like being trapped in a medieval torture chamber during the apocalypse.” Thank you, Tundra, you’ve done it.
The musicianship on this album is ridiculous. The guitar riffs are so technical that they should come with their engineering diploma. I attempted to play along on my acoustic, and I swear two fingers are now refusing to work for me ever again. The other three are negotiating better working conditions. The vocal growls were so deep that my neighbor’s German Shepherd started howling in what I can only assume was either fear or respect. My houseplants leaned away from the speakers, and I’m sure I’ve summoned some ancient Norse entity that’s now raiding my fridge and asking about my Wi-Fi password. The drumming is like if you gave a hyperactive octopus a case of Red Bull and some anger management issues. I think my heartbeat has permanently synced to this double-bass pattern. I tried jogging this morning and kept breaking into blast beats
My favourite track has to be the one that sounds like all the others, but with that one part where I briefly questioned all my life choices so hard that I saw my childhood flash before my eyes.
I’m already bracing myself for their inevitable follow-up album, which I assume will be called something subtle like “Super Void of Extra Destruction Plus.”
