UNSTOPPABLE BRIT ALT PUNKS HEALTHY JUNKIES DETAIL NEW ALBUM & NEW SINGLE!
15th November 2024Rampant UK alternative quartet, HEALTHY JUNKIES, are braced to release their captivating new album, Listen To The Mad, which is out on Friday 22nd November, via Banana Castle Records. The gripping alt rock crew have also just released their absorbing new single and video, Lion In A Circus
Pulling together from the main fundamentals of Garage, Punk Rock, New Wave, Grunge, Psychedelic Rock, and Goth, HEALTHY JUNKIES have crafted an engrossing sound that has seen racked-wide world acclaim.
Born in 2010 when fascinating yet fiery lead punkster, Nina Courson, moved from Paris to London and met guitarist Phil-HoneyJones. The dynamic duo crafted plans, ideas and looked to the support of music. They named their musical project “HEALTHY JUNKIES” as reference to the mental health epidemic that was then, and still is now, widespread throughout the world.
The two-piece enlisted Dave Whitmore on bass, and Tony Alda on drums, and soon began to widely tour throughout the whole of the UK and Europe. They’ve shared stages with The Rezillos, The Skeletal
Family, Walter Lure, The Professionals, GBH, Vice Squad, Theatre Of Hate, The Sex Gang Children, 999, The Vibrators, Spizz Energi and The Buzzcocks, as well as making regular festival appearances at The Whitby Goth Festival (where they have supported ‘Toyah’) and Corrosion Festival. These performances, as well as yearly appearances at the mighty Rebellion Punk Festival (which the band have played every year since 2012) have resulted in the HEALTHY JUNKIES amassing a considerable following. The lively Brit punks also caught the ears of recognised American DJ, Rodney Bingenheimer, who extensively promoted the band. The relentless four piece successfully toured the West Coast of America in the Autumn of 2018, and in doing so, have acquired a loyal and active fanbase in the US.
As well as their well-recognised live status, the HEALTHY JUNKIES have picked up wide media acclaim with their music acquiring airtime on BBC Radio, Fresh On The Net, Amazing Radio, Planet Rock, Total Rock, and Blank TV. The band have been featured and reviewed by Alt Press, Louder Than War, Big Cheese Magazine, Vive Le Rock, Artrocker, Devolution Magazine, and many others. The quartet also appeared in the music documentary, The United Kingdom of Pop, alongside The Specials; the episode was aired to millions of viewers throughout France and Germany, via ARTE TV, as well as being shown on Sky Arts.
In 2020, the HEALTHY JUNKIES had a change in their ranks with David Gaut joining on drums. Gaut’s introduction has restored vigour to the band. The punk rockers now surge forward with their explosive sixth album, Listen To The Mad, which arrives this year. The band comment about the record: “We recorded all of the songs with Jonathon Jacobs at Audiohaus studios in London. As always with Healthy Junkies we were compelled to make music for the sake of our own sanity. We have been inspired by what we see and hear around us. We never aim to preach but do touch on issues that are affecting many of us.”
With a lively tour schedule planned for the remainder of 2024, the HEALTHY JUNKIES keep on going from strength to strength.
