VOCALIST THERESA OF POWER METALLERS FORTUNE TELLER DROPS BY AATR FOR A NATTER

22nd April 2025 0 By DJ Pixie

From the shadowed forests of forgotten realms emerges Fortune Teller, a mythical power metal band shrouded in an enigma as deep as the mines from which their namesake ore is said to originate. Their music, a haunting blend of doom-laden riffs, ethereal female vocals, and guttural pronouncements from the depths, speaks of ancient gods, forgotten rituals, and the eternal dance between light and darkness.

They appeared out of nowhere down at our HQ like a cloud of mist over water to tell us about their new music video ‘The Fortune Teller’.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with us today.
You released your single The Fortune Teller alongside a killer video back at the beginning of April. What can you tell us about the proiduction?
Thank you, we had some fun creating this one. We wanted to give a bit more to our audience following on from our ‘Savage Seas’ video. Ross has a friend who owns some land he had previously filmed a video in for Viscera, so we thought a huge fire could look great for ‘The Fortune Teller’. It’s a bit more sinister this one. I have a few ethically sourced animal skulls and a couple of friends also lent some of theirs so that we had enough. I made some huge black flags, one of which we burnt at the end of the shoot, which looked epic, although we nearly burnt Ross with it, which also would have looked epic.
Was the video a collaborative process with the director/videographer?
Yes Shaun (Loki Films) is such a great guy to work with, he’ll take our often vague ideas and turn them into something magic. He is such a pro.
Did all the band members have collaborative input into the visuals/concept of the video?
It was Ross and I that built the concept. Ross knew we could build a huge fire and we went with the ‘Blair Witch’ style darker vibes of the song lyrics
Did you face any challenges whilst filming this, if so how did you overcome these issues?
Getting enough dry wood to burn was proving difficult, it was just coming out of Winter so a lot of the wood around was wet. I live in the New Forest so sourcing it wasn’t the issue, but drying it out was hard and also then transporting it all up to where we filmed it. Luckily Ross managed to source a huge load of pallets last minute and we covered them in dead wood. It was still a race to get the shots before the fire died though. And filming that close to a huge, slightly out of control inferno meant that poor Tim our drummer got a bit burnt during the first take!
Did the overall outcome of the video match up with the vision you had for the video?
Yeah I think it turned out better than we hoped, that fire just looks so good and Shaun knows just how to capture the best shots in any situation. We know we can trust him to guide us along to get the very best out of it.
Do you feel that the video compliments the songs message?
Yes, sometimes music videos can feel a bit disconnected to the meaning of the songs but we have been really lucky in that we have been able to find locations which fit the lyrical aspects and feel of the songs so far.
Did all the band members have input into the lyrics for this or is it solely down to 1 member for the songwriting for the band?
I write the lyrics and the vocal melodies, but as for song writing; Ian, Ross and Meyrick take the lead on this. Ian creates the tracks out of ideas he and Ross work on together, then he’ll send to me for the vocal writing. Meyrick will often guide me in the studio when recording vocals as well so that we can get the very best out of the song.
What are you hoping your fans take away from this music video?
We hope they will enjoy it, it’s quite fun and hopefully entertaining! We all got a bit burnt to create it so hopefully the pain was worth it!
What’s next for the band?
More singles to be released and more videos alongside them. And we are currently booking up tour dates for this year into next year.
We see you have a busy festival period coming up this summer including SOS Festival. Which is a great family festival currently in their 16th Year as a well established festival. Are you guys looking forward to this one.
Yes definitely. I have played this festival twice in another band and the vibe is always so great here. The Appleton’s have been really great in giving us this opportunity before we had even released our first single! They really care about the bands and want to help out new acts coming into the metal/rock scene. We hope the audience will enjoy our set on the Sunday.
Then you have the Almighty Bloodstock in August. Any special plans for this, maybe a special guest or new song?
THERESA – We are so excited to be bringing Fortune Teller to Bloodstock. The guys have all played Bloodstock previously in their other bands, for me it’s been 8 years since I’ve played Bloodstock and I can’t wait to go back with this whole new project. By August we may have some new music and as for a special guest…that cat’s staying in the bag for now!
If you could describe Bloodstock in 3 words what would they be?
 Dedicated. To. Metal
Does pineapple belong on a pizza?
I’m totally just gonna answer this for me – Yes and I don’t care who judges me!
Good answer.
Thanks again for speaking with us today!
Thank you!
