Wednesday 13 – Mid Death Crisis – Album Review

25th April 2025 0 By Jon Deaux

The new Wednesday 13 album, Mid Death Crisis, isn’t your grandmother’s polka. The record begins with eerie murmurs, and then—BAM! “Decease and Desist” strikes with lightning speed.

It dares you to put your foot down and throw something out the window because it is fast, dirty, and genuinely snarling. “When The Devil Commands”—well, let’s just say that Satan has some catchy songs. It’s reminiscent of an inebriated fight in a back alley behind a glam rock show; it’s all swagger and sleaze. He even sounds somewhat happy in one passage, which is unnerving.
There’s the track “Decapitation”! If you have a very twisted mind, that one is a good laugh.

The song with Faster Pussycat’s singer, Taime Downe, “No Apologies”. That one’s a real blast of Sunset Strip sleaze. Guitars wail, drums pound, and there’s enough hairspray to fell an oak tree.

The slower bits, like “My Funeral,” are still dark as hell, but in a more theatrical way. You can practically see the dry ice and the dramatic poses.

All in all, Mid-Death Crisis is a real mixed bag. It’s glam, it’s punk, it’s metal, and it’s all got that Wednesday 13 stamp of horror-showmanship. It doesn’t try to be something new, but why should it? It’s a good concoction of dripping with blood and glitter. You’ll either love it or you’ll be on the phone to your local vicar.
