Whitechapel – The Brotherhood of the Blade – CD Review

Whitechapel – The Brotherhood of the Blade – CD Review

2nd October 2015 0 By Tim Jones

The Brotherhood of the Blade is a live album just a cash-in ploy by bands that can’t really be bothered to record any new material?

Often, yes, but that’s not the case here.

The Brotherhood of the Blade is a live album showcasing Whitechapel on their tour of the same name.

The show on offer was recorded in the band’s hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, more or less guaranteeing the best crowd reaction possible.
The package also includes a DVD which contains the same concert and also follows Whitechapel on tour and at home and gives fans an insight into the thoughts of the band.

There’s over 2 hours of material on the DVD, so nobody can really accuse them of ripping anybody off.

The album, like any good live performance, plays like a greatest hits collection.

Deathcore has really never sounded this good. The sound quality and production that are sometimes lacking on live offerings are absolutely top notch here.

It’s hard to pick a highlight from such an outstanding setlist, but Our Endless War, Possession and The Saw Is the Law all sound particularly excellent.

It will be difficult not to turn your living room into a moshpit when you stick this DVD on.

Fans of Whitechapel won’t be disappointed and it’s also a good starting point for those who are just getting into the band.

Whitechapel will reportedly enter the studio to begin recording a new album early next year.
